I'VE JUST ARRIVED in my dad's city

I'VE JUST ARRIVED in my dad's city. My mom chose to stay behind, not wanting to be dragged into my dad's business. My father is a powerful figure in the drug world, running the streets for as long as I can remember. Eventually, both my older brothers got sucked into his world, and later on, so did I, but I kept my involvement low-key.

My mom remains unaware of my involvement, as everyone knows she would absolutely lose it if she found out. She's already furious with my dad for dragging my brothers into his world, and if she knew I was involved too, it would be a whole other level of chaos. Despite everything, my parents are still together, but my mom has to keep a low profile for her own safety.

I'm one of my dad's top workers, and it's all thanks to the facade of innocence I've carefully crafted. People would never suspect that I'm deeply involved in the gritty world of gangs and crime. It's like my dad's secret recipe – people underestimate just how unobservant they can be. But amidst all this, I can't deny that I miss the simple pleasures of spending time with everyone, free from the weight of secrets and deception.

As I finally arrived, a whirlwind of thoughts consumed my mind. I was honestly so exhausted, but relieved to see that my dad had everything prepared for my arrival – my room, the fridge stocked with food, and the TV ready to go. Stepping into the house, I couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment seeing how nicely it was decorated. It had a dark theme with touches of white here and there, providing just enough light to balance it out.

Without wasting any time, I made my way upstairs to put my clothes away in the closet. Once that task was done, I flopped down on my bed, feeling the pangs of hunger starting to kick in. I decided to ring up Ja'zai, my eldest brother, and ask him to bring me some food because I'm exhausted as hell.

"Hello," Ja'zai greeted as soon as he picked up the phone.

"Hey Zai, I just arrived," I said.

"How was your flight?" he asked.

"It was good, but I'm starving, so I was wondering if you could bring me some food," I said.

The line went silent for a moment.

"Alright, what do you want?" he said, making me smile.

"I want pizza with dessert and a drink," I said.

"Alright, I'll bring it to you," he said.

"Why can't you just let it get delivered here?" I asked.

"We can't risk anything, Jade," he said, making me roll my eyes.

"I just arrived, I don't think they know," I said.

"We can't allow any slip-ups, Jade. I'll bring you the food, alright?" he said, making me sigh.

"Okay," I said.

"I'm bringing Dad and Ja'mir," he added.

"Okay, see you later and thank you," I said.
