I know it's over

Check out my cold shoulder (Nothin' left to give)

I know it's over

Cry on that ho shoulder (You'll get over it)

"The Way Life Goes" by Lil Uzi Vert, Oh Wonder, and Nicki Minaj played softly in the background as Jade lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. The lyrics echoed in her mind, a bittersweet reminder of how life just kept moving, even when she felt stuck in place. She missed Zayvior so much it hurt, and each day without him felt like a punch to the gut. She sighed deeply, trying to push the overwhelming emotions down, but they just kept bubbling back up.

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening broke through her thoughts. Jade glanced over as her mom stepped into the room, concern written all over her face.

"Jade, where are you, sweetheart?" her mom called out, her voice soft but laced with worry.

"In my room," Jade replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

Her mom appeared in the doorway, taking in the sight of her daughter. Jade looked exhausted, worn out, and it was clear that the weight of everything was getting to her.

"Oh, Jade, sweetie, when's the last time you ate?" her mom asked gently, her eyes searching Jade's for an answer.

Jade frowned, trying to remember, but everything was a blur. "I... I don't know," she admitted, her voice trailing off.

Her mom sighed, her heart aching for her daughter. "Jade, you need to freshen up, baby. You look exhausted."

"Mom, it's whatever," Jade mumbled, not really wanting to get into it. She just didn't have the energy.

Her mom wasn't having it, though. "I'll make something to eat, and you freshen up, okay?" she said, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Jade sighed, knowing she wasn't going to win this one. "Okay," she agreed, giving her mom a small nod.

Her mom smiled softly, kissing her forehead before leaving the room. Jade dragged herself to the bathroom, trying to shake off the heaviness that clung to her. She brushed her teeth and then stepped into the shower, letting the hot water wash over her. It was one of those "everything" showers, where she took her time scrubbing away the grime, both physical and emotional. After what felt like an eternity, she finally stepped out, her skin tingling from the heat.
