Club Ecstasy
We were posted up in Club Ecstasy, sitting in our usual spot in the back, dim lights casting shadows over our faces. The bass from the speakers shook the room, but my mind was elsewhere. Dre was supposed to meet us here with some info on Leo, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and impatience. If Dre had something solid, this could finally put an end to all this mess.
Tray was tapping his fingers on the table, clearly annoyed. "Man, Dre needs to hurry the fuck up. In three days, the club's opening up, and I got shit to handle," he grumbled, looking around the room like he was ready to bounce.
Ace nodded, leaning back in his chair. "For real. Hope this info ain't some useless bullshit. We don't got time for that."
I checked my phone for the tenth time, wondering where Dre was. But just as I was about to say something, he finally walked in. Dre dapped us all up, sliding into the booth like he had all the time in the world.
"Wassup?" Dre said, settling in.
I leaned in closer, cutting straight to the chase. "So, what's the information you got on Leo?"
Dre took a moment, letting the tension build before he spoke. "Well, this is some good news. I honestly think you're gonna like what I found out."
"Ight, let us hear it then," Ace said, his eyes narrowing with interest.
Dre smirked. "His ass is gone. Moved to another state. Vanished, like for real."
I blinked, letting that sink in. "Gone? Like he's out of the picture?" I asked, needing to be sure.
Dre nodded, leaning back with a satisfied look. "Yeah, man. His babymama told me. I was over there handling my business, you know, and she started talking about how he packed up and left. Now she's complaining about him acting like a deadbeat and all that. Nigga just dipped."
Tray couldn't hide his relief, a grin spreading across his face. "Ight, let's fucking celebrate then! But in three days, after the grand opening. I still got too much on my plate right now."
"Facts," Ace added. "We gotta focus on the club first. But after that? We're definitely turning up."
I nodded, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. Leo being gone meant I could finally stop looking over my shoulder every second. "Yeah, let's continue with working on the grand opening," I said, trying to keep my mind on business.
But deep down, the relief was real. If Leo was out of the picture, I could finally start moving differently. Maybe I could even step away from all the dirty work and focus on something better. For once, the future didn't seem so damn bleak.
