"Hello, this is Seoul National University Hospital. Your doctor is wondering when you want to book your first treatment appointment. Thank you."
Yoojung laid on her bed as she listened to the voicemails she had been avoiding.
"Next voicemail from today," the ringtone lady announces. After the beep, Yoojung hears her doctor's voice. "Good afternoon Yoojung, this is Doctor Bam. You haven't reached us since your last appointment. I'm concerned for your declining health. Your older brother also has been pestering me about why you visited me that day, and I am not allowed to give him such information. I suggest you speak to him soon. Anyway, please contact us ASAP. Thank you."
Yoojung clenched her fists as she listened to the voicemails, her frustration mounting with each passing word. The urgency in her doctor's voice only served to amplify the gravity of her situation, reminding her of the ticking clock counting down the days of her dwindling existence.
After the final message played, Yoojung tossed her phone aside and buried her face in her hands, her thoughts racing with a mixture of anger and regret.
How had she let things spiral out of control like this? Avoiding her family, ignoring her health... it all seemed so foolish now.
A pang of guilt pierced her heart as she thought about her brother, who had been trying to reach out to her. She hadn't spoken to him in months, too wrapped up in her own struggles to even pick up the phone.
But now, faced with the reality of her mortality, she realized how much she longed for the comfort of her family's presence.
With a heavy sigh, Yoojung made a decision. She needed to set things right, to mend the rifts that had formed between her and her loved ones. Despite the fear and uncertainty gnawing at her, she knew she couldn't continue to shut them out any longer.

Ni-Ki sat perched on the rooftop of the building, his gaze fixed on the sprawling cityscape below. The city bustled with Human life, oblivious to the turmoil that churned.
Thoughts raced through his mind, disturbing his usual peace.
Despite his best efforts to remain aloof, Ni-Ki couldn't shake the nagging sense of unease that bothered. He had always prided himself on his rationality, his ability to see things with cold, detached logic.
But Yoojung had a way of unraveling his carefully constructed facade.
He stared out into the vast expanse of the night sky and felt something unfamiliar—empathy, perhaps, or a compassion. It was a sensation he had long since forgotten, buried beneath layers of indifference.
But now, as he watched over the city bathed in the soft glow of sunlight, Ni-Ki couldn't help but wonder if there was more to their mission than met the eye.
His mind is also consumed by the memories he had long tried to bury. The memory of his encounter with the Vampire hunter loomed large in his mind, a shadow that refused to be ignored.
He could still feel the cold metal of the knife against his throat, the threat of death hanging heavy in the air. It was a moment seared into his memory, a trauma that had shaped him in ways he couldn't fully comprehend.
He clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms as he struggled to maintain control. But beneath the layers of pain and trauma, there was perseverance.
Despite the horrors of his past, Ni-Ki refused to be defined by them. He was more than the sum of his fears, more than the scars that adorned his soul. With a deep breath, Ni-Ki closed his eyes and allowed himself to surrender to the darkness, to embrace the turmoil that churned within him.
"Hey, bro."
Ni-Ki's thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the familiar voice of Jake, cutting through the silence like a lifeline in the darkness. His heart skipped a beat at the unexpected intrusion, a rush of relief flooding through him at the sound of his friend's voice.
"Jake hyung?" Ni-Ki's mental response was laced with a mixture of surprise and gratitude. "It's been a while. What's up?"
"A lot. We've been stressed lately," Jake's telepathic voice conveyed a sense of urgency.
"What's happening there?" Ni-Ki inquired, concern coloring his mental tone.
"People are in panic. We've been busy lately tending to those who need help," Jake relayed the gravity of the situation in the Vampire realm.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Ni-Ki's response was quick.
"Just focus on your mission, Ni-Ki. We'll handle things here. Stay safe, alright?" Jake's mental voice carried a note of reassurance.
Ni-Ki nodded mentally, a sense of gratitude washing over him at Jake's words. Despite the chaos unfolding around them, he knew that they were all in this together, bound by a bond that transcended distance and time.
"Thanks, Jake hyung," Ni-Ki replied, his voice filled with genuine appreciation. "I'll do my best. Take care over there."
With a final exchange of mental farewells, the telepathic connection between them faded away, leaving Ni-Ki alone once more with his thoughts. Telepathy was still limited between the two realms.
But this time, he felt more determined, a determination to see their mission through to the end, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
Ni-Ki began to stare off into the distance when Yoojung exiting the building.
Without hesitation, he made the decision to follow her, his footsteps silent as he trailed behind her from a safe distance. As he moved through the bustling streets, Ni-Ki kept a careful eye on Yoojung, his senses alert for any signs of danger.
He knew that their mission hinged on her actions, and he couldn't afford to let her out of his sight.
He couldn't afford to fail, not when so much was at stake. As Yoojung moved through the crowded streets, Ni-Ki kept pace behind her, his mind focused on the task at hand.
