The next day, an unsettling feeling gnawed at Jungwon. He couldn't shake the sense of unease that shadowed him, nor pinpoint its source.
"What am I forgetting?" he muttered, frustration building as he searched his memories for clarity. It felt like a vital piece of the puzzle was missing, leaving him lost.
As time passed, he found himself absentminded, his thoughts drifting despite his efforts to stay present. It seemed he was destined to be Human, having embraced this life fully, yet something felt different. A veil had lifted, revealing truths he hadn't seen before.
Yona noticed the changes in Jungwon. His introspection and distraction worried her. She wanted to ease his burdens but felt helpless as he remained closed off. Her heart ached with unspoken words between them.
While detailing ideas for their next date, Jungwon's mind wandered. "Jungwon, are you even listening?" she asked, exasperated.
Caught off guard, he blinked. "Of course," he replied, though his tone betrayed him.
"Then what did I just say?" Yona challenged.
He hesitated, struggling to recall her words. "Um... you were talking about... uh..."
"You weren't listening!" she accused, disappointment in her voice.
"I'm sorry, Yona," he murmured. "I've had a lot on my mind."
"What's wrong with you?" she pressed.
Tension filled the air. Jungwon, caught off guard, whispered, "I don't know. I wish I did."
"You've been distant. It's like you're here but not really here," she said, concern evident.
"I know," he admitted. "I don't mean to be. Things just feel different now."
"Different how?" she pressed.
"I don't know. It's not you; it's me. I thought becoming Human would clarify things, but now I feel lost."
Yona reached for his hand. "You're not alone, Jungwon. Whatever it is, I'm here."
Grateful, he whispered, "Thank you. I wish I knew what it was."
As he wrestled with his thoughts, clarity began to emerge. Maybe he was overwhelmed by worries that didn't matter.
"You're right. I've been caught up in my head," he said, his voice steadier.
Yona's eyes widened, surprised. "What do you mean?"
"I'm done dwelling on things that don't matter. I want to focus on what's important: you, me, and our future together."
She hugged him tightly. "I'm happy, but if you have a worry, tell me."
With a weary sigh, he resolved to let go of his relentless pursuit of answers, seeking peace instead. "Of course," he nodded.
In the quiet that followed, Jungwon breathed deeply, releasing his worries. Sometimes, surrendering to uncertainty is the bravest choice, trusting everything will fall into place.
