Chapter 21. Remember

A month later, February 10, Claire's pov.

It had been nearly a month since Frank got arrested. It had been such a relief to all of us, he couldn't hurt us anymore. We'd spent a lot of time together, Jamie and I but also with the family. Gone out for dinners often or just spent casual moments together. Frank had admitted after two weeks of silence. Not with much detail. He only said. I did take her away on purpose, I did what was necessary.

It freaked me out, what was necessary, what was possibly necessary about taking me away from my family. Jamie had reassured me that he'd have to confess everything when the trial was. I knew he was right but I needed the answers. I felt a bit empty without them but eventually I managed to let go of it for now. With Geillis I still had contact. I warned her even though she admitted she might still get punished but she said she gladly pay money for my freedom. My gut feeling said it would probably be more then just money.

''Claire, are ye alright, Mo Phiuthar?'' Jenny asks, I smile at her and nod. ''Yes, I'm sorry. I was just a bit in my thoughts,'' she smiles at me and we look to our right in sync when wee Jamie and wee Maggie giggle loudly. Jamie is sitting in between them and tickles them. They laugh loudly and Jamie grins. I turn to Jenny and she's smiling too. ''You know I was thinking,'' I start softly. Jenny looks at me and nods. ''I want to give Jamie his child too, he has waited long enough,''

Jenny smiles. ''I'm all in for it, Claire. The way he's with bairns and how much he loves his nephew and nieces,'' I smile and nod. ''He is amazing with kids, that's exactly why I want to give him one, his wish for children is very great,''

''But?'' she asks and I sigh. ''I'm afraid it'll complicate things with Frank and such, with the trial, you know,'' she nods and takes my hands in hers. ''If you really want it you should just go for it, you too have waited long enough,'' she reassures me and I smile. ''I know,''

''If you want to be sure, ye can always ask William, but I'm sure it willna matter,'' Jenny suggests. I nod and go look for WIlliam. I find him in the stables and suddenly I feel nervous. Was I really about to do this? Once I had asked William I would've to speak to Jamie about it. ''Claire? Are ye alright?'' WIliam's voice snaps me out of my thoughts. ''William, yes I'm alright, I wanted to ask you something,''

He pats his hand on a haybail and we sit down. ''What do ye want tae ask?'' I fidget with my hands, not sure how to start. ''I was just sitting with Jenny at the dinner table watching Jamie with the children and I was thinking about how much I want to give Jamie his own child too, he has waited long enough and since I'm not planning on leaving I thought about.. you know trying?'' I say rather awkward and William smiles. ''And what exactly is your question. You're not asking for my permission are ye?''

I smile and shake my head. ''No, but I was wondering if we could? I do not want to complicate things with the trial,'' I tell him and he nods. ''That's understandable. I wouldn't've recommended it if you weren't married but you and Jamie are legally married so there woudn't be an issue with having a baby,'' I sigh in relief. ''So there wouldn't be any trouble?''

''I'm expecting that Frank won't be happy with it but you and Jamie are married and in love, there is nothing anyone who could stop you from having a child, Claire. Ye need not be so careful, everything will be fine,'' he reassures me and I give him a smile. ''Thank you William, truly for everything. You're the best brother anyone can have,''

He smiles at me and before I take my leave he calls for me. ''Claire wait!'' I turn around and look at him. ''You have my permission to bear my brother his long awaited child,'' I laugh and give him thumbs up. ''Thanks!'' I yell and he laughs. I walk back to the house and find Jamie still on the ground. I sit down beside him and Jamie smiles at me. ''You look happy,'' I say and he sits up. ''Is that a question or a statement?''
