Yunlan's office was empty apart from him and his furniture, and of course his collection of weapons decorating one wall. He knew how to use most of them, the others were just for show because he loved finding these outdated antiques which were of no value to anyone else. Occasionally he would take one with him when he went out, but only the smaller easy to carry things, like the whip. These past two weeks, he had been using a rapier because his previous client was being threatened by a sword wielding lunatic, who was now in the hands of the police. Yunlan was a private detective who would find lost items, guard people, or look for lost cats if he had to, as long as he was paid, which was his last job.

He arose early refreshed and eager to start another day's work, wondering what weird and wonderful things would come his way today and after he ate a quick breakfast, washed and got dressed, he put out a small amount of food for the rescued cat, and studied the animal as it picked at it's meal.

"Are you not hungry Daqing? Just leave it if you don't like it, and we'll go and meet your owner."

Maybe it's not the kind of cat food he likes Yunlan thought, obviously he didn't know that the cat had been helping himself to his fridge during the night and was stuffed, so they left in the car and headed for Yunlan's office to wait for Chu, who had hired him to look for the furry animal.

Yunlan unlocked his office as he held onto the cat and stepped over his mail, which had landed in a heap at the back of the door. He bent down to lift it and started searching for bills or payments, while Daqing slipped out of his grip and wandered around his office. He watched as Yunlan made a fresh coffee and took it to his desk where he sat with his feet up dealing with his mail. Next, Daqing studied his weapon collection and recognised a few obsolete items that no one else could name, and judging by the bookshelves, this detective was smarter than the impression he gave everyone. No surprises there Daqing thought, he always was brilliant in some way, and he wondered what else Yunlan was hiding.

Chu tapped the door lightly and as he stepped in, the cat ran and leapt into his arms and rubbed his head along his owner's coat while he purred, Daqing played his part well.

"Definitely the right cat," and Yunlan felt more at ease.

"Yes, thank you very much. Three times the amount I said, would a check be alright? ... While I'm here, there is something else I would like you to do, if you are free."

"Not another animal." Yunlan said as he accepted the check from Chu.

"No, not this time, a person. A lost friend. He has amnesia. He doesn't know me or the cat, or any other person who was in his life." Chu explained.

"How can you be sure he's lost his memory, that he's not faking and doesn't want to know his old life? That means he's not exactly lost, you know where to find him. Why don't you just speak to him?"
