The atmosphere in the house had changed, the threat seemed to be less obvious now that the watcher was gone and Shen Wei could be himself again. Yunlan was even back at his office to find out if there were any new cases for him to solve, but he was only too aware that the problem of the old college ground had not gone away. Wei might be attacked from a different angle unless he could find out why the basement was so important. The only things down there as far as he knew were files and an old computer programme which had been shut down for a very long time and probably wouldn't work without an update.
Wei found the house unusually quiet after his shadow had left which was a bit strange. He'd got used to seeing someone in the room with him and now he was alone for most of the time when he was working. He even questioned himself whether to carry on with this building or not, it was his design but it was a cover story to explain why the college site was being cleared. The crook only wanted something in the ground, so maybe it was time he found out what was so important that someone would kill for it. Guo Ying saw Wei grabbing a few things before he was ready to leave and suggested that a couple of guards should go with him for his own safety and he agreed too easily. Ying expected him to say no and was surprised at his willingness to take them, so he teleported to Yunlan and appeared in a quiet area out of camera view before he tapped his office door and entered.
"Ying, is there something wrong? Is Shen Wei alright? Or are you just out to see how the other half lives?" Yunlan joked but he seriously wondered why the guard would suddenly come to his office.
"Forgive the intrusion My Lord, but I am concerned about Lord Shen. He went to see the old college grounds and didn't refuse the protection of two of the guards." Ying explained, but it seemed odd to Yunlan and he couldn't figure out why Ying was worried.
"So, are you concerned because that's where he went, or because he accepted protection?"
Ying sighed and tried to make his point a bit clearer.
"Yes I am worried that he went there, but I am more concerned that he took the guards when they were offered. Usually he would refuse protection any time I suggested it, but today he agreed too easily."
"Alright, if he accepted them easily, it means that he thinks he might need them and he won't show his true strength in case he is still being watched. Need I remind you that this crazy guy thinks I'm dead. I'll try to stay hidden, can you teleport me there?"
Ying nodded, relieved that Yunlan now understood and he took him by the arm as he travelled to the old ruins, and arrived behind the trees at the overgrown nature trail.
"Thank you Ying, now get out of here safely, back to the house."
Yunlan had never been here before but it felt familiar and he wondered if he had a past connection. He could see the outline of a cottage behind him and had a quick glance to see if it was occupied, because the last thing he wanted was an irate neighbour asking why he was prowling around in the trees and alerting everyone where he was. The cottage was deserted and had been for a very long time, relief swept over him, and he could now hide in the bushes without fear of being caught.
