It took a while before the doctors agreed to release Shen Wei to recover at home but when he informed them that he had live-in private medical staff, this helped enormously and they let him go.

Everyone was pleased to see him but he wasn't blind to the fact that he would have to start all over again when it came to trust with the guards, because they saw him as a stranger, a new host for the Black Robe Spirit. Only Yunlan knew that Wei's spirit had swapped with the driver. As far as everyone else was concerned, he was the lucky survivor of a near fatal crash who had been sending pain messages to Yunlan.

Chu and Ava had organised the medical room to suit his needs, leaving the two beds inside. The other one was for Yunlan which raised so many questions about how he could be so infatuated with a stranger so quickly after Wei's funeral, but no one asked any questions and they kept their thoughts to themselves.

Once the stranger was settled, Ava came to see the patient to check that everything was alright for his needs, also to ask about breakfast and dinner, mainly to find out his dislikes.

"Good afternoon My Lord, I've come to ask you about your eating habits, what would you like for breakfast?"

"Is it not a bit soon to worry about breakfast Ava?"

Ava paused and looked over at him, she didn't say her name, maybe someone else told him, or Black Robe, and she moved onto the subject of drinks.

"Ava I think it would be safe enough now to re-order the orange juice from our normal grocer and add that to breakfast, and just my normal tea, no coffee."

The cook became very quiet and stared continuously at Wei's eyes as though she was looking for something, gazing long enough for Wei to feel uncomfortable by her stare and he blinked. Ava smiled.

"It is you, isn't it my boy? Tell me later when you explain to everyone else."

"Are you a mind reader now Ava, how did you know?"

"Apep left a trace of power in your spirit, and it shows if you know what to look for. Then there's Yunlan, do you really think he would bounce so quickly to another person, even if he did look like you? I know he wouldn't."

Ava moved closer and hugged him very lightly before kissing his forehead and returned to the kitchen to start on dinner for everyone. Shen Wei relaxed a bit more now that another person knew who he was and he didn't need to try and convince her, she just knew.

Chu wandered in and out of the medical room monitoring his patient but had practically no conversation with Wei, unless it was to ask about pain management, and he watched closely when Yunlan entered and went straight over to kiss Wei before he spoke to him.
