POV SUNSET

Friendship games have never been of great interest to me. Playing sports was far from being one of my favorite activities and competing in content events to define who was better did not relate to my values. However, there was a factor that differentiated that of that year from the previous ones.

I got home from school and the first thing I did was throw myself in the chair, in front of the computer, and click to start a call. As I expected, it didn't take me long to be attended to.

- Did you also get the news?! - Starlight didn't even bother to greet me.

- I received it! - I celebrated.

A few seconds of silence prevailed, the excitement was too much and there were no words to describe our happiness. Screams, however, were good enough. We celebrated together, the smile didn't leave my face.

- Finally I have a chance to see you! - Starlight exclaimed happily.

- So it's right that you're coming? - I asked.

- Well, not yet - he replied, my smile withered a bit - but it won't be difficult to be selected, I'm one of the best students in chemistry, they will certainly ask me to compete in the decathlon.

- The advantages of being a nerd - I joked. I laughed as soon as Starlight snorted into the microphone.

- Chemistry is very cool when you know how to mess with it - it was justified - but that's not the issue, the important thing is that I'll finally be able to see my friend, personally, in the flesh!

- We have to thank the fact that Canterlot High hosts the games this year - I commented - or we wouldn't have any chance.

I had been playing with Starlight for three years, a very long friendship taking into account that we met on the internet. When we found out that we were from the same city, the first thing that crossed our minds was a way to meet. The idea seemed simple, but the execution involved much more complex issues. Starlight and I lived in the same city, but in completely opposite areas, too far from each other, and, as much as she studied in a fancy school like Crystal, her savings would not allow a trip to the other side of the city, the only reason she studied at Crystal was a scholarship she owned because her father worked there. If Starlight didn't have money, I much less, living alone, I learned how to manage my money and I knew I wouldn't get a good amount to visit her.

I could have even signed up for the previous games and won a free trip to Crystal school, but my skills were not enough. Of course, I was great in the subjects, a student grade nine, sometimes ten depending on the subject, but obviously there were students who were extremely good in certain subjects, there was none in which I stood out. For sports issues I've always been terrible, I liked to walk from time to time, enjoy the fresh air, but sports? I only knew how to play soccer if I had a video game controller included. I couldn't even cheer, the school only guaranteed buses and resources for those who were enrolled in the games, those who wanted to cheer had to bear the individual costs.

The Canterlot school hosting the games was the perfect opportunity! Starlight would come as a player and, as a bonus, I wouldn't need to sign up for any game, just cheer and enjoy a good time with my friend.

- I'll send a thank you letter later - Starlight joked - but now I have to celebrate this news!

- I can't wait to see you! We will have so much fun - I got excited, almost jumping for joy in my chair.

- We will be able to talk about everything without me being afraid of my father listening to the conversation... - Starlight laughed.

- You can meet my friends... - I added.

- And you'll be able to meet mine! - Starlight's voice was already in tune with so much excitement - but there's one more thing I really need to do...

- What? - I asked, with no idea what she was thinking.

- I need to know who that girl you told me is - he revealed, with a fun tone in his voice - even you didn't tell me how the story ended.

- I can't tell if "it's over" is the right term - smiles on the side - let's say we're seeing where the wind takes us.

- Sunset Shimmer: Making sweet ass from the nursery - Starlight imitated the voice of an announcer, which got me some laughs.

- On second thought, I have my doubts if I really want you to meet her - I said as soon as I stopped laughing.

- Why? I'm sure we'll get along very well! - mocked.

- You're going to make me feel ashamed in front of her! - I complained. Starlight exploded in laughter.

- Oh, stop - she held the laughter - I would never do that to you.

I didn't say anything. The call was silent by some intants.

- Okay, I would - he gave in - but that's what it means to have friends!

- Wait for them to make you feel ashamed in front of the person they like? - I asked at once.

- Exactly! - Starlight replied excitedly - the true essence of friendship.

- I deserve it - I rolled my eyes and, with this act, I managed to look at the wall clock that marked almost an hour in the afternoon - I have to arrange my lunch and still go cover a shift from my co-worker.

- All right, you can go, we'll talk later - he said lightly - bye, see you later.

- Even - I said goodbye and hung up the call.

I got up from my chair and started packing my things for lunch: a reheated dough that was left the day before. I spread myself on the couch and turned on the television in a random action movie to watch while eating. During my lunch, my cell phone vibrated with a notification. I took the device and smiled in the corner as soon as I read the message. I left the partially empty plate and got ready to answer.
