POV STARLIGHT
"We didn't even date!"
That's what I had heard a little after putting my hand on the doorknob that led to Sunset's apartment. Pinkie, who was behind me, widened her eyes and withered the smile she had before, when we told jokes and talked about our common interests.
I felt someone turn the handle and, on impulse, I picked up my hand a little. To my surprise - Twilight opened the door, with some tears already running down her cheeks. She looked away and quickly left in front of me, corridor outside. Pinkie seemed completely lost, not knowing if she ran to Twilight or entered the apartment with me, but decided to follow me as I cautiously entered the place.
- Sunset? - I called as soon as I could have a complete view of the apartment. It was a very beautiful place, but the time of appreciation should be postponed, the moment did not allow it.
I saw, in the middle of the apartment, a paralyzed figure with red hair. Sunset seemed to unlock when her name was called. Her eyes widened and I saw her from afar seek support on the couch, falling on it. Pinkie quickly ran to her, with me right behind. Fortunately, she hadn't fainted, she still moved. As soon as we stopped running and stopped next to her, the silence that had remained began to be broken, with tearful sobs from Sunset, who supported her head on the back of the sofa.
Pinkie pulled her into a tight hug, letting Sunset boot out everything she felt. I couldn't know what had happened to her in that state, Sunset could barely support herself from being so emotionally shaken. At the same time, Twilight's tearful face came to mind. I poked Pinkie and signaled that I was going to come down. She didn't even ask, she just nodded and continued to caress Sunset's back.
I went down the steps as fast as I could - almost rolling to the first floor with so much speed. The doorman couldn't say a word, I passed him before. I opened the door that led to the street and looked to the sides, looking for any trace of Twilight or where she had run.
Surprisingly, I found her sitting on the curb, hugging her legs and watching the little movement there was on the street. She had a denim jacket over the blouse that I thought was pajamas borrowed from Sunset herself. I approached calmly, trying my best not to scare her.
- Hey, Twilight - I said in my most serene tone.
His gaze stopped on me for a few seconds and quickly looked for the opposite side, but slow enough that I could see the watery eyes. I took a bold attitude and sat next to her on the curb, without crossing my gaze with hers.
- You must have heard everything - she said, in a low tone - right?
- Just the last sentence - I replied - but I think it explains a lot.
- Yeah - she squeezed her own legs more - I think so.
At least she hadn't kicked me or shouted a thousand and one profanity while slapping me. It was progress
- So, are you two on a roll? - I asked, hoping she would get into the subject.
- We are, or we were, better said - Twilight sighed - maybe the verb was still in the present if I didn't explode at that time.
- Can I ask what happened? - I decided to give it a try - I'm here to listen and advise, if you want.
- I thought you were going to stay with Sunset upstairs - she raised her eyebrow, asking a genuine question.
- Pinkie is with her, you went too fast to realize the existence of someone else - I clarified - I wanted to make sure you were okay.
- Really? - Twilight briefly looked at me from the corner of her eye.
- Obvious - smiles - you came out like a hurricane, I'm even impressed that Rainbow Dash was in the games instead of you.
Twilight had a weak laugh, which gave me hope: I was going the right way.
- You're a good person - she sank her face into her knees - which makes everything worse.
- What do you mean? - I got confused.
- This all happened because I was afraid of Sunset finding someone better than me and changing me - I said at once - and when you arrived, everything just multiplied more.
Jealous? No, it was different. I recognized that, I had already gone through the same feeling: insecurity to the extreme.
- So you're the girl Sunset told me by call - smiles on the side - I think that explains a lot.
- What do you mean? - Twilight raised her face, turning it to me.
- Sunset had told me that she was liking a girl on one of our calls - I explained - she even said she was afraid to introduce me because she thought I would make her feel ashamed in front of her.
- That's why she didn't tell you it was me when you got here? - Twilight lowered her tone.
- It's not because of that, I think she just distanced herself from the subject and ended up going wrong - I shrugged - Sunset tends to get stuck in the good times and forget about anything unrelated to them. It's a good thing depending on the situation, but I believe that in this case it backfired.
- What do you mean? - Twilight sighed loudly and buried her head in her knees once again.
- She likes you, for sure - I smiled and allowed myself to put my hand on her shoulder - Sunset acts in a completely different way around you, she cares, really, and with good reason. Don't let your insecurities make you think meaningless things.
- I'm glad you don't think I'm jealous - she smiled in the corner and let an isolated tear drip - maybe it is, or not, I don't know. I'm just afraid she'll find someone better than me.
- Jealous or not, I'm flattered that you think I'm such a good person that Sunset doesn't like you - I squeezed her shoulder a little, showing affection - but relax, you have several things that I don't have, one mainly.
- Which one? - she asked, curious.
- You are you, Twilight - smiles openly - and for that reason alone, there's no way to change you.
When I looked at Twilight, she had the most relaxed look and a warm smile began to appear on her face. She was calmer and more organized with herself. Holding everything to herself, how could anyone know how she felt?
- "The best part of doing good is seeing the good things that come from it" - I quoted one of the phrases from a saga of books that I liked.
- Wait, I know that phrase... - Twilight quickly looked at me with a more open smile on her face - do you read too?!
- And am I going to miss a cliché romance with werewolves and vampires? - I laughed - never!
- You need to tell me your theories of the next volumes - Twilight asked, with her eyes shining again. There was Twilight that I hadn't had a chance to meet.
- On one condition - I raised my index finger and Twilight nodded her head - I want a person's contact.
- What person? - she turned her head slightly to the side.
- A girl from your school - I scratched the back of my neck bland - she did a good magic trick in the decathlon.
- I know who it is, I can give you her number - Twilight smiled - but I think the good word is still something to discuss.
- Why? - I raised my eyebrow, worried.
- The other day I'll tell you - she patted me on the shoulder - it's a lot of story to tell.
