April 17th dawned as a rainy, grey morning. The wind whipped the rain against the window as the thunder sounded over the hills. Nagisa loved it. He curled up in the window in his room, watching the small spot of light slowly creeping up into the sky. It felt like the universe was giving him his first birthday gift. Seventeen, his golden birthday. He smiled.

His bed was filled with a very large dragon, sprawled out. Nagisa had woken, tucked protectively in those long arms. The moment he gazed at the soft, peaceful face of the dragon, something opened dup inside of him. The window he now sat in was just above the bed. He hadn't been able to get too far away from the dragon.

"Ryu." He whispered the name softly.

It felt different to him now. Now that he knew. He giggled to himself, still holding the dragon's hand. He waited for him to wake up. Nagisa turned back to the window. His gaze flicked up to the castle in the mountains. He couldn't see it through the storm, but he knew where it was.

The door to his room creaked open. A low form crawled inside. Nagisa pulled a move out of Lucifer's book. He wasn't as good as his shadow vampire sibling, but he could blend intot he night pretty well. He watched as his older brothers and younger cousin snuck inside. Waiting as they moved toward the bed.

"Shit, we forgot about Ryu!" Xavier hissed.

"Shh, don't wake Nagaia." Collin hissed.

They spoke too high for the dragon to hear the words. He would be able to hear the soft hissing. Ryu flinched a bit. Ozzie rose up, peering into the space where Nagisa usually slept.

"Wait, he..." The werewolf vampire began.

That was when Nagisa pounced. He landed on the wolf's back, his foot colliding with the chest of the fey. Collin was a bit more used to his surprise attacks. He managed to leap back toward the door. Nagisa had Ozzie in a choke hold. His arm around the werewolves throat, he pulled him back away from the bed.

Xavier bolted for the door. "No fair, when did you trian with Lucifer?" He yelled.

"Nags?" a sweet, eepy voice called.

Nagisa released Ozzie. "You woke my mate. Get out before I take your pelt, you miserable little wolfie!" Nagisa growled. Ozzie backed away, hands before his chest.

"Happy Birthday, little bro!" He smirked as he reached to close the door.

Before it was completely closed, Nagisa heard Xavier out in the hall. "Wait, did he say mate?" The door clicked closed.

"Did you?" Ryu's voice was still a little hoarse frome sleep.

Nagisa turned slowly to look back at him. There was this. He couldn't describe it. It was like a glowing feeling in his chest whenever he looked directly at the dragon. It filled him with the need to be touching him. He inched forward, tentatively reaching out his hand.

Ryu sat up, taking the small fingers in his meaty grip. He gently pulled the suddenly, shy teen to him. "Nagisa, did you call me your mate?" he asked in a former tone.

Unable to lift his head to meet the golden eyes, he nodded. Ryu crushed the small frame to his chest. He lowered his head to cover Nagisa's. He didn't try to kiss him or take advantage of the smaller body. He just wanted to hold him close. Their hearts hammered against each other.

"You, you knew, didn't you?" Nagisa spoke intot he darkness of Ryu' neck.

"I knew you were the one I was looking for, yes. I didn't know if you would choose me." Ryu said.

Nagisa wiggled his arm free to curl it around Ryu's neck. "I'm sorry it took so long. You must have been..." He paused. A giggle escaped him.

"Very patient!" Nagisa chuckled.
