SUMMARY:
Y/N has a surprise for Spencer after he's released from prison.

Y/N
You had a pretty shit life growing up, that much was evident when anyone looked through your FBI personnel file. But none of the days in your childhood could compare to the three days in 2017 that briefly turned your life upside down.

Day 1 started off like any other normal day. You gave your husband of 2 years - Spencer - a call, seeing as he was due back from his 3 day trip to Houston, Texas in just over 2 hours. He had told you a few days ago that he needed to travel to Houston to speak to his mother's doctors, who had informed him that they would be changing her medication and requested that he come down to make sure everything went smoothly. You offered to go with him, but he explained that the team needed you as much as he did, and that he'd be fine being alone for a few days. It was then an hour before he was due to arrive home that Emily called and gave you the news that sent you spiralling into a world of fear.

"Reid is in jail." Emily told, her voice laced with concern.

"I'm sorry, jail??" You furrowed your eyebrows, a knot forming in your stomach.

"In Mexico." Emily continued.

"What the hell is he doing down there? He's supposed to be coming home from Houston, Texas." You reminded Emily.

"I don't know. I didn't talk to him. The call came in to Cruz from their lead investigator." Emily told, trying to keep herself calm. You, on the other hand, were on the verge of being sick.

"What's he being held for?" You asked, trying not to get upset.

"Drug possession, with intent to distribute." Emily exhaled.

"What type of drugs?" You sat down.

"Cocaine and heroin." Emily finally told.

"For fuck's sake." You groaned, dropping your phone onto the couch before rushing to the bathroom. Everything in your stomach was now being flushed down the toilet as you wiped your mouth and washed your hands.

Day 2 happened to be the day that Spencer's bail would either be granted or denied. According to Emily, Spencer was offered a deal of 2 to 5 years in prison if he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. He denied this deal, maintaining his innocence. After the knife used to kill Nadie Ramos (the woman Spencer was accused of killing) was found, another plea bargain - 5 to 10 years in prison - was offered to him. You weren't shocked to hear that he had denied this offer too. You hadn't seen Spencer at all. At first, he didn't seem to remember anyone when Emily and Luke first talked to him, but even when he started remembering things, he refused to see you. According to Luke, Spencer said that the idea of you seeing him in such a mess would ruin him. He apparently didn't want the way he looked to taint how you viewed him as your husband. You didn't agree with Spencer's request, reminding Luke that you vowed to love Spencer for better or for worse. Spencer being locked in a Mexican prison cell seemed like a 'for worse' situation. But, you followed Spencer's request. You constantly sent him notes via Emily and his lawyer - Fiona Duncan, reminding him that you loved him and that you'd never leave his side. You were with the rest of the BAU in the court room when the judge made her choice.

"Simmer down, Ms. Duncan. It's almost 6:00 and I'm not inclined to hear from character witnesses. Actions speak louder than words, I always say." The judge explained, earning looks of fear from everyone on the team. You could feel the anxiety messing with your stomach as you tried not to cry.
