SUMMARY:
Y/N believes that Spencer hates her. Oh how she is very wrong.

Y/N
You had one more task to do before you left the BAU for the night. Your last task involved talking to Derek.

You found him at his desk, grumpily sorting through files as he tried to keep his eyes open. You exhaled, knowing that you could've been home by now (9 PM), but your brain wouldn't stop thinking about a certain genius and how he hates you.

"Why does Reid hate me?" You walked up to Derek's desk, confused.

"I'm sorry?" He put his pen down, turning around to face you.

"Reid hates me. Do you know why?" You asked again.

"Have you made fun of and/or mocked his intelligence?" Derek furrowed his eyebrows.

"No." You shook your head.

"Have you undermined him at all while he's talking?" Derek asked.

"Not that I know of." You shrugged your shoulders.

"Have you been rude to him in any way?" Derek exhaled.

"No." You shook your head again.

"Okay. Let's go back a step. What makes you think that Reid hates you?" Derek leaned back in his chair, clearly fighting the urge to close his eyes.

"Since the day I met him, a year and a half ago, he's never looked me in the eyes. He doesn't talk to me unless Hotch pairs us up for cases. The moment I try to talk to him, he finds some excuse to get away from me. I also think he talks about me behind my back because I often see him talking to Prentiss, Garcia and JJ while glancing at me every once in a while." You explained your thoughts.

"First of all, Reid doesn't talk about people behind their backs. If he does, it's mostly positive comments. The only time he's talked about someone behind their back in a negative way was during a case with Strauss, and to be fair, she deserved it." Derek told.

"That doesn't help my issue. I could have offended him and I don't know it because he won't talk to me." You rolled your eyes.

"Listen, I don't wanna make you even more concerned by not saying anything, but...I'm probably not the right person to ask. I mock him enough to make him avoid coming to me for any emotional talks. If you want to discover why Reid doesn't talk to you, I'd suggest going to Prentiss, or JJ, or...hell, even Garcia. He tells them a lot more than he tells me." Derek exhaled.

"Fine. Thanks for your not-at-all useful advice. See you tomorrow." You nodded, leaving Derek alone.

GENERAL
A case popped up before Y/N had the chance to talk to the ladies about Spencer. But, once the case was over, they all had a ladies night and by the end of it, Y/N had it in her head that Spencer had a crush on her. Should Prentiss, JJ and Garcia have put this idea in her head? Probably not.

On the other side of this issue, Derek decided it would be a smart idea to find out for himself why Reid barely spoke to Y/N outside of case work.

"Reid, just a general question...uh, do you hate- correction, dislike Y/N at all?" Derek questioned as he and Spencer sat at their respective desks while the ladies sat in Garcia's office.

"What? No! I could never hate, let alone dislike, Y/N. In fact, there's something about her that intrigues me. Why do you ask?" Spencer shook his head.

"Well, it seems like Y/N thinks that you hate her." Derek admitted.

"She said that, to you?" Spencer's eyes widened.

"Yeah. She asked me if I knew why you hated her. I didn't really have an answer that she liked, so I sent her to ask the ladies. Hence why they're in Garcia's office." Derek nodded.

"I didn't mean to make it seem like I hate her. I just...she's really pretty, smart and sometimes I feel intimated by her knowledge." Spencer admitted, now feeling really sad by his behavior.

"Well, I recommend fixing that. She seemed pretty sad at the thought of you actually hating her." Derek told, watching as Spencer nodded, standing up.

"Where are you going?" Derek furrowed his eyebrows.

"I'm going to fix the problem." Spencer sounded determined.

Derek had never seen Spencer walk with a purpose.

Less than a minute later, Spencer knocked on Garcia's office door, waiting for permission to enter.

"Who is it?" He heard JJ ask.

"I- It's Spencer." He told, hearing a few chuckles from the ladies inside the office. He blushed slightly when he heard 'speak of the genius' coming from Prentiss.

Entering with Garcia's attention, he wasn't surprised to find them almost huddled around Y/N, as if they were discussing secrets.

"What can we do for you, Reid?" Prentiss asked.

"I hope you don't mind if I steal Y/N for a few minutes?" Spencer asked, feeling his heart race with nerves.

"Of course, go right ahead! She's all yours." Garcia smirked, basically pushing both Y/N and Spencer out of her office.

Spencer pulled Y/N into an empty office, seeing the confusion on her face.

"What's up?" She asked.

"You seem to have misconception about me, and I'd like to correct it." Spencer fidgeted with his fingers, unable to hide the nerves racing through his body.

"And that misconception would be...?" Y/N was playing dumb.

"I don't hate you, Y/N. Quite the opposite actually. I think you're amazing. You're smart, kind and unlike our team, you don't immediately try to shut me up whenever I start to ramble." Spencer revealed.

"Your beauty is also a big plus." Spencer added, smiling.

"No one could blame me for the conclusions I came to, Spencer. Since the day we met, you've never looked me in the eyes. You don't talk to me unless Hotch pairs us up during cases. Every time I've tried to talk to you, you've made an excuse to get away from me. Not to mention all the times I see you glancing at me when you're talking to JJ, or Garcia, or Prentiss." Y/N explained.

"I'm sorry for giving you the wrong impression. I don't often look you in the eyes, because I'm afraid that I'll never be able to look away from your beauty if I do. We only really talk during cases because I've never quite figured out if we have anything in common that we can talk about. I don't actively try to get away from you. I just worry that if I stay too close to you for too long, I won't be able to stop myself from kissing you. And, all those times you've seen me glancing at you while talking to the others, I've been asking them the best way to ask you out." Spencer admitted, talking quite fast so he could get all his feelings out.

"Why haven't you?" Y/N asked, confused.

"I've tried, so many damn times. But, every time, my mind tricks me into thinking that you'll reject me and I chicken out." Spencer told.

"Well, ask me now." Y/N told.

"What?" Spencer's heart stopped for a moment.

"Ask me, Spencer." Y/N repeated.

"I- I wanted to a- ask you in a m- more romantic way...n- not in an empty o- office." Spencer started panicking.

"Ask me, Spencer. Before your brain tricks you into thinking I'll reject you and you chicken out." Y/N held his hands.

"Will you go out with me, Y/N?" Spencer asked without thinking.

"I'd love to, Spencer." Y/N nodded.

"Providing we don't get a case, how does this Saturday at 8 PM sound?" Spencer asked.

"Sounds lovely." Y/N nodded, placing a small kiss to his lips.

Deciding that the team would be looking for them soon, Y/N and Spencer exited the office, greeted to the sight of Derek, JJ, Garcia, Prentiss and even Rossi waiting for them.

"About damn time you two." Rossi spoke up, making everyone laugh.
