SUMMARY:
Y/N's freedom is jeopardised when her father announces that he has found a man willing to marry her.——————————
Y/N
"Y/N, I was disappointed to discover-"You quickly closed the letter, not wanting to read the rest of it. But, after a few minutes, you opened it back up and let your eyes wander down the page as the words your father wrote sunk in.
You had hoped that by the time you were contacted by any member of your family, you would at least have a boyfriend, if not a husband or fiancé. But, for the last 3 years, you had been so focused on progressing in your career as an FBI Agent that finding a partner had completely slipped your mind.
The letter your father had sent detailed a marriage that had seemingly been completely planned out from the moment he brought you home, to the moment you left the church a married woman. You knew his plan to marry you off would be carried out sooner once he confirmed that you didn't have a husband, considering he had a high status within your community and had connections. There was no doubt that he looked for your name filed within any marriage certificates and found nothing.
You walked up to Hotch's office and knocked, waiting for permission to enter.
"Y/N. What can I do for you?" Hotch asked as soon as you entered.
"I'm going home. Back to my apartment." You told.
"Your work is not yet completed, Y/N. You know my rules." Hotch warned.
"My father is currently on his way, intending to drag me home so he can marry me off to some man I have probably never met. I'd rather not be dragged from my place of work in front of my friends." You insisted, handing him the letter.
"Is this letter real? Is your father willing to marry you off?" Hotch seemed confused.
"He has been opting to marry me off since I was 18 years old." You nodded.
"Go to the conference room. I'll have the rest of the team meet in there." Hotch instructed.
"Hotch, this is my father and my problem. The team can focus on more pressing matters, like case reports." You shook your head.
"You are a part of this family, the BAU, and have been for 3 years now. If you think we'll let you be married off, you're mistaken." Hotch smiled.
Minutes later, the team stood around the conference room, confused.
"Do we have a case?" JJ asked.
"No. Right now, Y/N's father is on his way. He'll be here in a few hours." Hotch told.
"Why does this concern us?" Derek sat down.
"Y/N, I was disappointed to discover that there are no records of you being married within Virginia, where you claimed your "husband" lived. As I now have proof that you aren't married, I am on my way to bring you home. There is an esteemed gentleman back home who has declared his intention to marry you, and I have accepted his proposal on your behalf. I expect you to return home with a happy smile." You read, the letter shaking in your hand.
"This letter is a joke, right? Your dad isn't actually coming here to bring you home so he can marry you off?" Garcia looked panicked.
"What is this, the regency era, where fathers marry their daughters off?" Emily read the letter.
"Much to my dismay, the letter is very real. My father is extremely traditional. From 10 years old, I was taught how to be a good wife, how to properly raise children, how to please my future husband." You sat down, groaning.
