Present - Age: 52
28 years had passed since Spencer and Y/N exchanged their vows and said 'I do'. But 42 years had passed since Y/N and Spencer's friendship had grown.

Past - Age: 10
The weather forecasted that a huge storm was going to hit Las Vegas around 3:30 - 4:00. That's why the teachers let their classes out early so the students wouldn't be caught in the rain. Unfortunately, Spencer knew he wasn't going to avoid being drenched with water by the time he got home.

At 3:15 PM, Spencer said goodbye to his friend Y/N, who was being picked up by her mother. He wished her a good afternoon and told Y/N that he'd be alright getting home. She refused to let him possibly face getting sick, so she asked her mom if she'd be okay with taking Spencer home. 15 minutes later, the rain hit Y/N's mom's car with force, almost scaring the two 10-year-olds sitting in the back seat. Just as the rain got worse, Y/N's mom pulled up at the address given by Spencer, letting him grab his bag.

"Have a good afternoon Spencer. If you need another ride another day, let us know." Y/N's mom smiled before Spencer exited her car and ran to his front door. He unlocked the door and walked inside, knowing that his mother wouldn't have noticed the weather due to her episodes.

"Afternoon, mom. Y/N and her mom gave me a ride home." Spencer told as his mother remained silent on the couch.

Age: 12
Spencer couldn't deny that he had a crush on Y/N. Too bad he was unable to admit his feelings to her. Y/N also couldn't deny that she had a crush on Spencer. He was intelligent, sweet, caring and cute. Too bad Spencer was graduating from high-school and moving on to college because of his high IQ of 187. She was sad that he was leaving. Who else would hang out with her at lunch time? Spencer had really become her only friend in their 2 years of knowing each other.

Age: 14
Spencer decided that for his 2 week break, he'd head back to Vegas to visit his best friend/crush, and his mother. He hadn't exactly had time to send his mother letters, and the last time he talked to Y/N was on her birthday, when she told him that she had a new female friend.

When Spencer landed in Vegas, Y/N was there to greet him, but he immediately noticed the male next to her, who was around his height.

"Spencer! Welcome back!" Y/N hugged her best friend before going back to the male's side.

"You must be the, uh, boy genius who graduated from high-school at 12 years old. Y/N's told me a lot about you." The male smiled.

"Y- Yeah, I am. You are?" Spencer tried not to sound irritated by the male's presence.

"Spencer, this is Toby, my boyfriend. Toby, this is my best friend, Spencer Reid." Y/N introduced him.

"Boyfriend?" Spencer's heart broke.

"Yep. Started dating earlier this year." Y/N smiled, nodding. Spencer successfully hid the pained look on his face, watching Y/N be so touchy-feely with someone who wasn't him. It hurt to know that since he had seen her 2 years ago, she'd moved on, - if she ever had a crush on him in the first place - and yet his crush had grown into love and he was still in love with her, even though they hadn't talked very much.

On Y/N's end, she was only dating Toby because her feelings for Spencer could never be acted upon. The day he left for college, Y/N had intended to tell him, but things happened and her feelings were left untold. 6 months later, - 6 months before her 14th birthday - Y/N met Toby. They were friends for a few months and then things progressed. Y/N turned her feelings for Spencer into feelings for Toby, even though her feelings for Spencer would never go away.
