Her black heels clicked as she walked down the hall, her head held high and the winds from her strut catching her shoulder length hair. Her deep gray pantsuit hugged at her every curve, her wide leg dress pants flapping gracefully with her every step.

Given the sun's vibrance today, a pair of sunglasses sat atop her head, complimenting her body wave curls, parted at the middle.

Briefcase in hand, she showed a badge to the guard, who gave her a nod and kind grin, purposefully avoiding his eyes to keep from checking her out. Paying it no mind, she entered the precinct, expertly knowing her way around by now.

With a nod to another guard, she stood by as he opened the door for her. Then she bid him thanks upon entering before he shut the large door behind her. Silence soon fell throughout the small space as chains rattled and tired eyes peered up at her, the orange of his suit standing out upon the darkness of the room.

"So, you my lawyer huh?" Chains rattled again as he sat back, manspreading within his seat to sweep his eyes up and down her frame. "Hmph..."

Ignoring his gaze and the lick of his lips, Milan sat down, unloading her briefcase atop the steel table.

"That's right. Unless you're not Mr. Hall- If that's the case then I'll be on my way-"

"Nah." He sucked his teeth as she pretended to be confused. "That's me."

"Oh, good," she flashed a sarcastic smile before sorting through her briefcase. "So, Mr. Hall... You've been charged with-"

"You ain't gotta remind me lady, I done heard it enough times to have the shit memorized," his face scrunched as he waved a wand, the other bound to it with cuffs. "You gone help me or what?"

Suppressing a smug response and hard eye roll, Milan bit the inside of her cheek. "Um-"

"And you should know I ain't got no money for no lawyer anyway-" he scratched at his cornrows irritably. "So if there's any mistake here, you best be on your way pretty lady." His grin was sarcastic and mocking in a way that almost made Milan laugh.

Well isn't this gonna be fun, she thought, drawing a breath with a look around the room to compose herself.

"Alright Mr. Hall, let's cut the bullshit, shall we?" Her smile was just as fake as she folded her hands atop the cold table, giving his eyes a hardened stare. "If you wanna get out of here in the next six months, and you will if I have anything to say about it, I'm gonna need you to drop the smartass act and work with me here. Unfortunately, I can't do it alone, and frankly, I don't have the patience for childish behavior such as this. So-" Sitting back with her arms crossed, she cocked her head, mirroring his stance. "What's it gonna be, it's up to you."

A mild staredown was had between the two before Jimmy's jaw worked, and Milan internally smirked as he sucked at his teeth again, softening his posture.

"Look aight-" he met her eyes, sitting up to rest his cuffed hands atop the table. "The first thing you should know is I ain't do it. I'm bein set up."

Drawing a breath through her nose, she mirrored the inmate, sitting up as her gaze locked with his. His eyes searched hers to see if she believed him, and that was when she revealed her smirk, arching a brow. "I know."

Today's schedule permitted her a day away from her office, which she neither minded or necessarily enjoyed. Her office was her baby, but it was nice to move around for the day.

After her meeting with her client, she had a meeting to attend with her judge and prosecutor next.

Strutting out just as she came in, after an hour's time, Milan retrieved her sunglasses from atop her head to slide onto her face just before she exited the dimly lit building.
