Omniscient
Dawn came sooner than either of them would have liked. Most of all the little girl in the guest bedroom, just next to the couple's own.
Because, even since last night, she knew.
That there was no way the woman that was so kind to feed her and give her a place to sleep for the night would let her go back to being a runaway. There was no way that the woman with the warm smile and even warmer home, who was also a judge, would do anything other than what she had to at this point. That her fiancé, who was a lawyer, could help her any more than the both of them already had.
Kindness could only go so far. And that was something Genesis had known since she was born.
On her way back upstairs with two mugs in hand, the scent of coffee and chamomile parading around her, Noah stopped to check in on the child again. For the second time this morning.
It was early, being a crisp 7:30 as she'd only been up for about an hour so far. Peeking inside to see Genesis sound asleep, with her hands tucked under her cheek and her small body curled into itself, the woman eased the door back shut, soon entering the one just a few feet away.
Just waking up, Milan's eyes fluttered as her fiancé ambled around their bedroom quietly.
The smell of fresh coffee made her grin fairly to herself as she stirred within the plush sheets, the comforter on top keeping her warm. The mattress sank near her just before she felt a lone finger tracing the length of her arm. Going down to her elbow then up to her shoulder with care. She soon couldn't help letting go of a shy smile the moment she felt sweet lips kiss her forehead twice. Slowly, and taking their time before pulling away.
"Goodmorning..."
That right there had melted her. And the second she fully opened her eyes to find the softness and warmth within Noah's, Milan knew that if the world ended right now, she'd die happily with a serene smile.
Leaning into her lover's touch as their grinning gaze of love had yet to break, Milan cupped the hand that was now caressing her cheek, soon poking out her lip and jutting her chin in a pout that asked for a kiss. Noah smiled, almost giggling as she obliged, the way she always did.
With adoration, she was forever happy to give Milan more than just one, or two.
"Come here," the younger woman wrapped her arms around her neck, pulling her close. She loved the way it broke free Noah's soft giggles, laced in the butter smooth morning voice that never failed to make her insides shudder.
Now laying beside her fiancé, while being held by her every limb as one leg hiked around her midsection and arms chambered her neck and shoulders, Noah melted into their embrace. Without a second thought. Closing her eyes as a gentle hand was rubbing her back, skin to skin, she kissed her lover's collarbone. And Milan responded knowingly, by simply not letting go.
"She's still asleep?"
Nuzzled into the woman's neck, Noah nodded solemnly. "Mhm..."
A moment's silence passed between them then. Lingering, for sometimes a conversation could be held in that alone.
Filled with empathy, for she knew her fiancé and she knew her well, Milan spoke in a hush of understanding. Her caress didn't stop, nor did her hold loosen. "Do you want me to wake her?... To talk to her?"
"No," Noah shook her head softly against her chest. "It'll just make it worse and she'll just hate me even more."
"Oh honey..." Withdrawing to find her eyes, Milan used one hand to cradle the back of the woman's head, shaking her own. "Baby she's not going to hate you-"
