"This you?" she asked, and Milan nodded. "Here, I'll walk you up."
Milan chuckled. "Careful now Jackson, you're soft side is showing-"
"Shut up," Noah nudged her shoulder again with a laugh. "Blame it on the sleep deprivation, all thanks to you-"
"Me??" Milan exclaimed in a whisper as the two arrived at her floor. "I've done no such thing- if anything that's been all you-"
"See now I know you're drunk." They shared a laugh, now stopping at the door.
But as they stood there, lingering within each other's presence, it seemed as though neither of them wanted Milan to walk inside. And they were already standing pretty close, but once Milan noticed a piece of lint on Noah's hairline, she reached a hand up while taking a step closer.
"You have a..."
Suddenly, her words became lost as her eyes peered deep into the woman before her's. So up close, she could see their true color, and true depth. Behind them was a kindness instead of a coldness, as well as admiration, for it seemed as though Noah was staring into her eyes just the same way.
Again, maybe it was the long night she'd had, but Noah couldn't help but feel herself being drawn to Milan, no matter how many times she'd told herself that she was her apprentice and nothing more... With every bit of information she'd learned about the woman, she wanted to know more. The simple yet intimate sight of her smile and laugh was enough to have Noah doing just the same.
She didn't know why either, but tonight, she honestly didn't care to stop it.
"I uh..." her words trailed as she attempted to break eye contact. But it didn't seem to be working. "I-I should let you go...and get some rest..."
"Yeah..." Milan's words trailed just the same as she drew back a bit. Their eye contact finally broke once both their gazes trailed down the floor. "I'll uh... I'll see you Monday."
"Right," Noah smiled weakly, now slowly taking a step back. "Goodbye then, Montgomery." She turned to walk away.
But before she could get far, a hand pulled at her arm. And before she knew it, Milan's lips had crashed into hers.
Despite an alarm going off in her brain, telling her that she should be anywhere else, doing anything else...it wasn't overpowering the feeling within her heart. Having Milan's hand on her cheek as the other held her waist, Noah pulled back a little abruptly.
Their eyes met for a moment, and as Milan's gaze grew regretful, she connected their lips once more.
This second kiss between them was more passionate than the first, but not rushed.
Noah kissed Milan as if she'd been wanting to do so ever since laying eyes on her earlier that night. And Milan kissed Noah as if she'd been wanting to since the moment she first met her.
However, after a moment, the fight between Noah's mind and heart had taken a turn.
She soon found herself regretfully pulling away from the younger woman, letting her head fall. Their eyes met as she began backing away, and without saying anything, she turned to rush off to the elevator.
Milan was left standing there with knit brows, but no longer with regret...
