OmniscientHappiness is temporary, as it's known that nothing lasts forever.
Although, every bit of that felt millions of miles away from the truth for both Noah and Milan. Together, in the embrace of one another and amidst the incomparable share of their kiss, happiness was eternal. It was forever, because they had each other.
Time had become trivial, here and now, as had the rest of the world around them.
Only the caress of the summer winds, and the illuminating komorebi of sunlight gracing their skin through the peak of towering trees, mattered. Only the loving gaze of gild tethered between their eyes, and the placement of their hands upon one another as they danced to an inaudible tune, could be felt.
In a field of green topped with the most vibrant of colors, Noah created space between her and Milan to twirl her fiancé before bringing her back avidly close in a gentle sway. A swooning dip followed her movements, earning a giggle from Milan. Noah soon smiled because of it, a warmth she had only thought possible in fairytales filling her whole.
For the second time, she was to be wed. Though she already knew that this marriage was nowhere near comparable to the first. Not even in the slightest.
There were no doubts, no second guesses. There was no mixture or disruption in her feelings in regards to the person she was marrying. She was loved, and reassured, and respected, and admired, and adored. She felt calm, safe, secure, and blissfully head over heels for the woman in her arms, looking at her as if she were everything and more.
In a way that Noah had never been looked at before in her forty-five years of life...
Nine o'clock rolled around in the blink of an eye as the couple followed the host to the second level of an upscale Chicago restaurant.
Hand in hand, their heels clicked on their way up crafted stone steps as they passed the intimate setting of warm lights, finely clothed round tables, velvet booths, chandeliers above, and elegant vined walls.
A candle scented of wealth resided at the center of their reserved and secluded round velvet booth, where Milan gestured for her lover to enter first.
Her smile was adoring as Noah's grew a bit shy while she took her seat, her legs brushing the long table cloth. Following suit next, Milan took in the woman beside her, watching for a reaction as Noah observed her surroundings in awe.
"I really love how thoughtful this is," Noah spoke softly before her attention drifted from the restaurant to Milan, who's expression made her crack a smile. "You're so cute," she scrunched her nose at the sight of her lover's visible blush. Then she took hold of Milan's chin before it could sheepishly drop, leaning in for a kiss. "Thank you, for all of it..."
For a moment, Milan could only stare up close into Noah's eyes before she then responded with a kiss of her own.
Soon interrupting them was a young female waiter, her curly hair long and wild in its ponytail and her flawless skin a copper brown, complimenting the mocha of her monolid eyes that glimmered from the restaurant's warm lighting. Queer and having a girlfriend of her own, she hid her smile at the sight of the older couple before clearing her throat while bowing her head a little.
Upon the bashful break of their kiss, Milan bit down on her lower lip and slightly hung her head as Noah peered up at the girl with a kind smile.
"Hi there, sorry our apologies-"
"Oh no need," she shook her head and waved a hand, grinning with laughter. "I find it refreshing to see actually. Are we celebrating something tonight?" her eyes glanced between Noah and a shyly recovering Milan.
