"Grassy! For fucks sake! Let me out!" Austin shouts from inside the very dark hall closet Grassy had managed to trick him into and then slam the door behind him, locking him inside. "I am doing this for your own good, buddy, you will thank me later!" Grassy shouts from the other side of the door.
"What exactly are you saving me from? It's just a fucking date!"
"Yeah! A date with a vampire!"
"Damit, Grassy. For the millionth time, she is not a vampire. She is just a singer who dresses like a vampire. It's all for show!"
"That's what she wants you to think, but once she has you alone she will suck you dry and turn you into her vampire bitch! I don't want you to be a vampire bitch!"
"Let me out!" Austin shouts and starts banging on the closet door. He does not have time for Grassy's crazy right now, he is going to be late and he has a thing about not being late.
"No! Not until you swear to wear and keep on the necklace I made you for protection!"
"I am not wearing that thing!"
"Then you will stay in this closet, mister!"
Austin sighs and leans on the wall, banging the back of his head against the wall. Grassy really believes Sandy is a vampire and he knows he will not let him out of this dam closet until he agrees to wear that necklace he made him. "Fine. I will put on the necklace," he sighs then pushes off the wall when he hears the lock click and the closet door opens. "Don't let her anywhere near your neck," Grassy says draping a string over his head with a bulb of garlic on it, "and remember pure silver kills them, stab her with a fork if she moves too quickly. And under no circumstances accept an invite back to her lair," he says with a very serious face. "Is that it?" Austin asks.
"Yeah, be careful, they are smart."
"OK, buddy. Thanks for looking out for me," Austin says hugging him and then grabbing his wallet and keys before he dashes out the door. Once in the car, he tucks the garlic bulb into his shirt, he will keep it on because why would he break a promise to the one friend he knows would die for him? He fucking loves that man, Grassy has never and will never let him down, at the very least he can keep his promise to him. What's a little garlic bulb between two friends?
He drives across town to the restaurant Sandy had picked and parks in the parking lot then adjusts his trucker hat and goes to climb out but stops when his phone rings. He sees his mother's name flash across the screen and his jaw clenches. They were just starting to work on their relationship but he doesn't want to anymore. Her guilt is her own and she needs to stop using him to write her wrongs so he cuts her call and climbs out.
He has never been to this restaurant before, it has a dark vibe to it and he swears it looks like a place vampires would go for dinner. Grassy has gotten into his head. Damit. He shakes Grassy's words out of his head, there are no such things as vampires, and walks into the restaurant. Everything is black and velvet, and the lighting is dim. He looks out of place in his blue jeans and boots as everyone else seems to be dressed as some kind of vampire.
"Sandy Valley."
"Huh?" Austin asks snapping his head toward a waitress who approaches him. "You are here to meet with Sandy Valley, yes?" she asks.
"Yes...how did you know?"
"She informed the front desk that she was meeting Austin Post."
"How did you know I was Austin Post?"
"I am a fan and your fan base is growing. It will get even bigger now that you have Sandy Valley on your arm," the waitress says with a smile then gestures for him to follow her. He walks behind her to the back of the restaurant and then sees Sandy at a table in the back. Sandy flashes him a smile and stands then hugs him when he gets close enough. "I am so pleased you finally agreed to meet with me," she says sitting back down, Austin sits opposite her and orders a beer from the waitress. "Yeah, sorry I did not phone. It gets kind of busy," Austin says. He feels bad for not phoning Sandy to confirm a date with her, but she had phoned him and insisted they meet up. He eventually relented so she got what she wanted in the end.
