As I slowly opened my eyes, the comforting sensation of a soft bed against my back greeted me. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, I found my vision gradually clearing, revealing a warm, sunlit room around me.
Taking a deep breath, I sat up, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as the events of the previous moments began to fade into the background. The throbbing in my head had subsided, replaced by a comforting sense of calm.
Turning my attention to the room, I noticed familiar surroundings—a cozy space adorned with comforting touches, from the plush pillows to the gentle sway of curtains in the breeze. It was a scene that felt comforting, offering comfort, I was back in Alan's room.
As I moved to stand, the door creaked open, and Alan's concerned face appeared in the doorway. "Hey, you're awake," he said softly, relief evident in his voice. "How are you feeling?" With a small smile, I nodded, grateful for his presence. "Better," I replied, my voice still carrying the remnants of fatigue. Alan stepped into the room, his expression filled with warmth and reassurance.
"Here," he said, offering a reassuring hand. "I'm fine." I forgot I had an injury on my foot, which started to hurt a bit more now that I've walked far. "Jeff don't be stubborn." Alan slowly and swiftly carried me out of the room, I didn't fight back. The doctor advised me not to walk much for a few days so the swelling would go down and my foot would heal faster.
"What happened P'Alan?" I asked while I leaned my head on his shoulder, I still felt tired. "You passed out last night so I brought you home." Alan softly said as we descended the stairs. When he sat me down on a chair in the dining room, he walked back to the kitchen to get some water.
I looked at the food on the table, fried dough on one of the plates alongside porridge with egg in the bowl, one of my favorite foods to eat in the morning.
Suddenly I heard a low bark beside me followed by a whimper. I turn to see Bubu beside me nuzzling his nose on my legs, as if he's saying sorry for what he did yesterday. He sat next to me while he continued nuzzling his nose on my legs now on my hands, which I returned by caressing his head and giving him a pat on his head, somehow he didn't look as scary as before.
"It's okay Bubu, I know you didn't mean to. I forgive you." As if he understood, he gave a lively bark and then sat next to me like a guard dog. I do get it, dogs tend to get affectionate and give a sense of protection when their owners, or in this case the owner's boyfriend, are pregnant.
Now that I know Alan doesn't want to have kids what should I do? I can't kill this kid but I'm also scared, I don't think I'm ready. I'm just a kid myself. Should I tell Charlie? He might know what I need to do.
"Okay here's the water, let's eat." Alan came with a glass of water then he put it next to my plate then he noticed Bubu who was now lying down next to my feet like a nice dog, which I appreciated. It feels like this pregnancy is doing something to my emotional and mental state that even Bubu is not that scary for me anymore.
"Oh? Bubu, you've become nice now to nong Jeff?" He smiled and then went to sit down. We started eating in silence when North emerged from the living room towards the dining area. "Good morning~," I notice him bringing some food, mostly fruits.
"North!" Alan beams in surprise. "I brought fruits for the baby." My eyes widen with what he said, does he know? How? "North! I'm also here, I brought snacks for nong Jeff." Sonic also came, and Bubu started barking at the two who were walking closer to me. "P'Alan let Bubu out first and while you're at it get us plates and bowls, thank you." Sonic, still with a hint of anger, said.
The old man did as he was told, he didn't have a choice anyway. When he left I immediately turned to the two who sat down on each of my sides. "Nong, have you told P'Alan yet?" Sonic asks and I frown at him. "You knew? How?" I asked confused about how he might've known. "The call you had yesterday, I didn't mean to accidentally know but the doctor said you should visit for check-ups and I asked for what because I thought you were sick and he told me you're pregnant." Of course, why didn't I think of that?
