Cat tipped the half emptied glass of water back, draining the remaining liquid from it. Watching as Kal leaned back enough to see into the living room again, checking in on her every minute or so like he thought she might disappear.

He was talking on the phone with Halrim, and probably the other new leaders. Updating them on the new information they had, including the fact they might be heading to see a rogue Relevent. Which was why he'd reacted so harshly earlier, apparently Kiode was a word in his language; a person who smuggles illegal items over the border. Although, according to Kal, they didn't usually deal with living beings, let alone this many.

Once they were all on the same page, their small group would be leaving Dan's house. Keeping them on the new schedule that would allow them to meet up at the rendezvous spot. At which point this Kiode would move them over into the Zones where it would be easier to hide from the organization out for their blood. And they would be for sure, since they had just shattered the glamor over their people; one they had worked so hard to create.

By the sounds of it, they had killed people for less.

"So," she didn't need to look at Daniel to know he had an eyebrow raised at her. "No one, huh?"

Cat went to take another sip from the empty cup, instead being forced to clear her throat to try and clear the ball of ice trying to block her throat. She had hoped he'd forgotten their last encounter from that awkward afternoon, but she knew that wasn't her kind of luck. All but kicking him out when he'd over reacted to her rejection, minutes after he'd walked in on her personal dream.

She had told him Kal was 'no one', then disappeared for months; only to show up on his doorstep with him by her side, very pregnant with his children.

Once she was able to gulp the lump down, Cat gave a dry laugh, "He is definitely not 'no one'." She couldn't help the twitch at the corner of her mouth, as her eyes were automatically drawn back to the assassin who was now barking instructions out.

"I can see that," Dan shifted uncomfortably, only to stand when he couldn't find a new position. Adding under his breath, barely loud enough for her to hear him, "Wonder what Greg would think about him." Rising to his full height, he turned away on his heel as his head shook slightly. Biting his tongue, just like he did when Greg had one of his rare moments when he snapped at his best friend. Doing the same act since they were kids, down to running his hand through his hair. When he turned back, deciding to say whatever was on his mind, his mouth snapped closed again, just in time for Kalayavan to enter the living room again.

He immediately nailed Daniel with a pointed look, as if suspecting him of something nefarious. Kal made his way back to her side, holding one arm out as a support bar, while the other went under an armpit to aid in her rising.

"Are you finally ready to leave?" Daniel asked as if it had been the strange man's fault that they hadn't left already. Not the fact that he'd originally taken a minute to get a hold of his acquaintance, or pack a go-bag because he insisted on going with. Which Kal had denied, until Daniel had refused help then.

"I was ready to leave you in the rear view before even arriving."

Cat wasn't sure if it was intentional or not, but her Pretekter took a step forward once she was on her feet. It was most likely just the fact that his masculine ego was always challenging other males when it came to her.

"Looks like Cat had other ideas about me, now didn't she?"

Before the pregnant Kanfedant had time to register what was happening, the two men were standing about a foot apart. So close they were nearly standing nose to nose as they were almost the same height, minus the inch Kal had on him.
