Kalayavan couldn't stop his gaze from wandering to the rear view mirror to make certain that the cooing woman was still there and he wasn't just hearing the memory of her voice. Her face was already back to its rosy glow as she leaned over either one of the two seats they'd taken from a MassStore. He hadn't wanted to use one of their Tranzloosents, but it was necessary to get the things they couldn't make for the twins.

The twins.

He caught sight of a little hand coming up to fist around her mother's finger, and there was a pressure in his chest once again. It was almost impossible to believe they were right here, in the flesh; the product of their kepling. How could he blame his pet for fawning over them from the moment they were placed into her awaiting arms. Only after he'd covered her nearly completely naked form with his own cover shirt and tee.

Again, because of this woman he was filled with a joy he couldn't put into words, all just by looking at her. Because not only were their children healthy and strong, but his Kanfedant was also still alive.

The lift of his lips faltered when he was reminded of the turmoil back in the early hours of this morning. Never would he be able to forget how Caterina had screamed at them right before passing out. Or how as they approached the junction between three of the Sectors, she began to thrash in her unconscious state in such a violent way it appeared she was having a massive seizure. Threatening the human that if she died, so did he as the man scrambled into the back to aid her while Kal sought out the hospital in the abandoned town.

Thankful there was one even there, as they couldn't just walk her into a regular Emergency Room. Not only would the other Sepireers be able to find them easier, but they would try to draw the blood and do other tests to make sure the girls were alright. If they were Relevents, the doctors would discover something irregular.

So working together, the four of them moved her into the operating room, which was at least somewhat cleaner than the rest of that forgotten place. Then he and Jefferys worked to remove the girls, who made it more than clear they were ready to get out by shoving their appendages into the skin of their mothers belly. All the while Kalayavan had been trying to reawaken his woman, even as he could feel his own heart slowing right alongside hers.

As if his willingness to live was withering to nothing with each shallow breath she took. When her pulse faded to nothing at all, he felt like his entire existence was tunneled back into absolute rage. He hadn't cared about his newly born children or that he still needed to get back to the rest of his people; who were basically being led to a dead-end where they would be slaughtered if they didn't get help.

Instead, all he cared about was the fact that death had just stolen his woman from him, and the police captain hadn't been able to save her like he had insinuated. Making him the only thing that appeared at the end of the assassins crimson blurred tunnel of vision.

If Cat hadn't fallen at the top of the entrance steps, he could have continued to tighten his hold until he squeezed the breath from the captain. It was why he was in the other vehicle, it was a decision that Kal hadn't been willing to bend away from. Despite the fact she was breathing, the Sepireer wouldn't have been able to relax; or enjoy this small clip in his existence that actually held a positive feeling.

It was quite similar to what he normally felt with his pet at his side, only it was magnified a thousand fold.

"Why do you think I came back?" Her voice was shaky, like she'd just been lost in her own dark thoughts. "Do you think it was our connection?"

Kal lifted his shoulder, and answered honestly, "I don't know, my love, maybe." He hadn't wanted to look a gifted horse in the mouth.

But this didn't seem to quench her curiosity on the matter, "If it did, why didn't ours work where Hunter and Jessica's didn't?"
