(Kylee POV)
It's been almost a week since my parents were killed in a car accident and the funeral is today, I really don't know if I can handle going to the funeral and having all these people tell me how sorry they are or that they know what I'm going through because honestly nobody will ever understand what I have been through in the last week. I was sitting in my room trying to figure out what I was going to wear to the funeral when there was a knock on my door "come in," I say turning to see who it was entering my room. "Hey Kylee is it ok if we come in," Olivia ask from the door. "You mean Mark and Jade are here to?" I asked actually feeling a little excited to see my friends beings they live a town over from us and haven't been able to see them because they had school all week. "Yeah we all wanted to see how you were holding up," Jade said as she steps into the room with Mark right behind her. "I'm as good as can be expected I guess," I tell them trying to not let muscle break down in front of them. "I'm glad to here that," Mark says as he comes up to me and pulls me into his arms. "I'm so glad you are ok, I have missed you so much," Mark says to me before placing a kiss on the top of my head. "Me to Mark I hate not being able to see you everyday," I whisper to him. "It's going to be ok we can still talk and I can come see you on the weekends or you can come visit me," he tells me trying to comfort me. "Guys I know you are all happy to see Kylee but I need you all to go downstairs so that she can get dressed," my Aunt Sarah says as she enters the room holding a dress in her arms. "Yes mam," they all says before they leave the room leaving just me and Aunt Sarah. "Here sweetie I got you a dress for you to wear to the funeral, I figured you may want something nice to wear," she says to me as she hands me a simple black dress that had a gold belt to wear with it. "Aunt Sarah it's beautiful, thanks you so much," I say to happily as I hug her. "You welcome and how about you let me do something with your hair," she says as she plugs in my curling iron. "Sure," I say shrugging my shoulders not really feeling like doing it myself anyways.
After about an hour I had put my dress on and my aunt had curled my hair into loose curls and done my makeup for me. "Well what do you think," she ask me as she stands me in front of the big mirror on the back of my door. "I like it thanks," I tell her after quickly looking in the mirror. "Good now we need to be going or we are going to be late for the funeral," she says ash she starts making her way out of my room. "Ok let me get my shoes on then I will meet you at the car," I tell her wanting a minute to myself before having to leave for the funeral home. I sit down on my bed as place my head in my hands, "I don't know how I'm going to make it through this day," I say out loud talking to myself. "You will get through this because you have me, my mom and your friends all here to support you and help you get through the day," I here someone say as before sitting next to me. I look over to see Carter sitting beside me with a concerned look on his face. "I just don't know if I can go to the funeral, I just want to remember them the way they were," I say to him without making eye contact as I try to fight track the tears forming in my eyes. "Kylee you will regret it if you don't go, because this is your last chance to say goodbye," he says as he places his hand on top of mine. "My parents would understand I mean it's not them it's just there body's and I just really don't want to see them laying there lifeless," I says my voice cracking as the tears begin to fall. "Kylee I promise you I will be by your side the whole time and if at any point you think you can't handle being there anymore we can leave," he says as he places his hand on my chin, pulling my face up to look at him. "Ok," I say breathless not having the strength to fight what I knew I had to do any longer. "Good," he says with a smile as he wipes the tears from my eyes. "How about we get going then," he says and with a shake of the head yes, he takes my hand into his and we begin making our way out the door. "Where is Aunt Sarah?" I ask him curiously as we make it outside and I see her car nowhere in sight. "I told her and your friends to go ahead to the funeral home and that I would bring you," he says to me as he opens the car door for me to get in. "Oh," I say feeling a little relieved not to have to entertain my friends right now. "Is that ok, I hope I didn't upset you by telling your friends to go with my mom," he says looking at me sadly. "No it's ok, I'm really not in the mood to entertain today anyways," I say shrugging my shoulders. "Ok good," he says before cranking up the car and pulling out of the driveway. The rest of the ride to the funeral home was silent which gave me time to think and calm my nerves.
I was able to make it sitting through the funeral without freaking out, and I have to say that I give the credit to all of my friends and loved ones being there to support me. The funeral ended around an hour ago and everyone was now gathered at Aunt Sarah's house to eat and hang out. "Your parents where great people," some guy says who says he worked with my father. "It's so sad what your going through with you being the only one coming out of the wreck with minor injuries," some woman who says her name Beth said to me. I felt like my head was going to explode if I heard one more person say something about my parents and the accident so I turn around and ran outside to the street were I just started walking not really caring were I ended up or if I got wet by what looked to be a storm coming.
I walked for what seemed like forever until I came to a park, I then walked up to the swings and sat down on one and begin gently swinging. I hear thunder come from close by which startled me a little being I hadn't really noticed that the storm had gotten so close. I get of the swing and begin to make my way back to the house only to realize I had know Idea where I was or how I was going to get home seeing as I forgot to grab my phone before leaving the house. Not knowing what to do I just sit on the nearest park bench and begin to cry, not because I was lost but because after everything I had been through in the last couple days I knew that life would never be the same. It was long before my tears were being drowned out my the heavy rain and I was then I decided to lay down on the bench and just hope the rain would just wash me away. After awhile I here a car pull into the park but I didn't have the strength to get up and see who it was. "Kylee are you ok," I here someone unfamiliar say to me and I tried to answer but I couldn't, because I was shaking so bad from the cold rain. "Your burning up," I here someone say before picking me up in their arms and carrying me placing me in a car. I try to force my eyes open but the were burning so bad that I couldn't keep them open and my head was hurting so bad that I made it hard to focus on the voice talking to me. After being placed in the back of someone's car I just couldn't stay awake any longer so I gave into the darkness that was overcoming me.
