House Targaryen has always had a bleak and bloodied history, much like the damned throne they created. The Doom of Valyria had house Targaryen running, labeled fools by their Valyrian neighbors, not that they mock my family now, all are dead or turned to stone, their days spent as stories for sailors to tell or hushed murmurs throughout the Valyrian ruins.

Nearly 100 Years ago, My ancestors Aegon, Rhaenys and Visenya began their conquest of Westeros and set aside the seven squabbling Kings. Every Kingdom fell under heel of the mighty Dragon, save Dorne. All those that surrendered were allowed to keep their lands and became Lords Paramount for King Aegon and his wives and all that apposed were decimated, like the Gardeners and the Hoare's.

After Aegon's Death, his weak and feeble son, Aenys took up the crown, but there were many Lords that wanted nothing to do with the Targaryen's and their views on life. Aenys had been poisoned, whether by the Grand Maester in the Faith Militant's plot or his own Aunt, the former Queen Visenya. All that mattered was the bloodshed that occurred when Aenys' more capable yet cruel younger brother Maegor was crowned King.

Maegor committed many atrocities, towards his supporters, his wives, and even his own kin. He murdered his nephew Aegon the uncrowned with his father's dragon Balerion over the God's Eye, he tortured and killed his younger nephew Viserys in the black cells beneath the red keep, some say even now you can hear the fifteen year old boy's cries and screams for mercy and Maegor raped and defiled his brother's eldest daughter Rhaena, adding her to his collection of wives.

His crimes would haunt him, through his youngest nephew and niece, Jaehaerys and Alysanne and the combined might of the seven Kingdoms. Maegor was found dead on the Iron throne, injuries sustained from battle, his own swords, or his own resolve, some even say the Throne came to life and killed the cruel King, but no one truly knows.

The seven Kingdoms was thought to be in capable hands through King Jaehaerys, but my grandfather's reign soon fell into despair, what with my father Aegon, being a drunk whoremonger, my uncle's Aemon and Baelon dying from wounds bound to their duty to the crown, and the haunting death's of my aunt's Daella, Viserra, Gael and my grandmother, Alysanne.

King Jaehaerys called for a Great Council to truly decipher who should inherit the crown. As a child I could not understand why my Grandfather called for that action. I was the first son of Jaehaerys' eldest children. My Blood was pure, unlike that of Princess Rhaenys, and my mind was sharp, more than the fool Viserys the naive.

But Dragon's are wonderful at conquering, less so ruling. Throughout House Targaryen's history, no Ruler has ever taken the throne without conflict. My grandfather's legacy was in tatters, so he called for the Great Council, so that every claimant could see just who the Lords of the realm chose to rule them.

How unfortunate that my Grandfather's legacy died out the day that Viserys, who only achieved the title of King, was for being a man with a cock, named his daughter Rhaenyra the arrogant as his heir, after he butchered his wife chasing a blasted prophesy and then remarried the whore Ellyn Reyne.

This is the Tale on how I, King Aerys of house Targaryen, first of my name, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the first men claimed the Iron Throne, and saved the realm from the destruction of the House of the Dragon.
