THE WHITE DRAGON CHAPTER 12 : THE SILVER WEDDING

AN ORIGINAL EPISODE

DRAGON'S MAW : ALICENT

Running her hands down the sides of her ivory dress, Alicent takes a moment to feel the patterns of the Targaryen sigil flying about the dress. The entire morning, every maid had told her of her beauty and that she would look radiant. Glancing into the mirror, Alicent feels trepidation in her stomach as her reflection stares right back at her.

Her hair had been pulled back and curled being pinned high, freeing her face from her long auburn brown hair. Dark red ruby earrings had been gifted for Alicent to wear by her soon to be mother-in law and and a necklace with green and white jewels wrapped in a gold coating sat at the center of her chest. 'I do look beautiful. Another reminder that both Aerys and Father wants to convey the message that while I won't hold the title of princess, I'll certainly look the part.'

She blocks out the sounds of maids shuffling about, all faffing about deciding what should be set in Alicent's hair. Tears catch in the corners of Alicent's eyes and the door opens. Alicent glances to see Genevieve walk in with a big smile on her face, which falls as she glances over Alicent's teary eyes.

"Could you give us the room please." Genevieve asks and one by one, the maids all scurry out from the room, all giggling like children. Genevieve walks up to Alicent and softly asks "What's wrong, my lady?"

"I have been waiting for this day since I was a little girl, but now that it is finally here, I'm terrified." Genevieve smiles and wraps her friend into a warm embrace "You will be fine, my lady. I have it under good authority that Prince Aerys is just as nervous and had gone over and beyond to make this ceremony as beautiful as possible."

"It's not the ceremony I'm concerned about." Alicent says softly, her mind racing with dark thoughts. 'Would he be gentle and kind. Would he treat me well. You're rambling stupid girl, and it will be your downfall. Stop acting like a fool. You're marrying a Targaryen Prince, almost any girl's dream and you're worried about your duty.'

"Ah, you're worried about the bedding then?" Genevieve asks and Alicent keeps her head down in shame. Genevieve sighs and takes Alicent's hands into her own and kneels down, meeting the Hightower girl's gaze and reassures "I am sure that the Prince will be gentle and if you are not comfortable doing anything, take this."

Alicent feels a glass vial drop into her hands and glances down at it, weighing the glass object in her hands seeing the liquid slosh from one side to the other and looks down at Genevieve with confusion and doubt in her eyes. "It's goat's blood. If there are any nosy Maesters and Septons who wish to see the proof of the bedding, you can use this to fool them." Genevieve explains with a smile.

"But what if Aerys wants to have the bedding and I have no choice in the matter?" Alicent asks, her voice shaking in fear and trepidation, yet all Genevieve responds with is a chuckle filled with mirth "Aerys was the one to bring attention to this matter. He already has denied the audience to view the bedding, but he wanted to make sure that there was a way to keep any unwanted eyes away, should you be uncomfortable during the actual bedding."

Alicent smiles at the glass reflection of the vial, her thoughts simmering down 'This simple vial of blood is all you need silly girl. This is all the proof you need of Aerys' love for you.'
