Luna was stunned and she stood paralyzed near the door.
"Why are you just stupidly standing there? Come in." Ms. Lucia glared at her. That prompted Luna to finally move. She entered the room and closed the door.
"Hello, Ms. Lucia. I'm Luna Jones. Mr. Kandinsky asked me to send you these files after I'm done with them."
Luna placed the stack of papers on her supervisor's table.
"Ah, you're that 'irregular intern'. You've done your work so fast. Are you sure that you did this properly with no mistakes? Don't tell me you breezed through these thinking we can't understand English. Let me tell you something you probably don't know. Everyone who has offices from the third floor up can speak and understand the language. It's just that we won't bother doing menial tasks such as translating documents."
Wow, she's as fiery as her hair.
"I properly translated those documents, Ms. Lucia. It may seem like I did my job poorly with how quickly I finished it, but believe me, I did not. If you know about me being an 'irregular intern', then you probably know about my memory loss, too. I may not have any recollection of my past but I feel like I have done paperwork before, which was why I was able to quickly finish all of these. If you don't trust my words, feel free to check. I'm very confident I did my job right."
Lucia was flabbergasted at the boldness of the woman before her. Most interns cry when she starts bitching around, but this one has guts.
"Fine, I'll check these. If I ever see a mistake, I'll..."
"No need to fight over this Ms. Lucia. I'm not offended that you're underestimating me. I understand your doubt about my abilities. If I end up doing a good job, please treat me as a 'regular' intern, okay?"
Luna took the words out of Ms. Lucia's mouth that she ran out of things to say.
Clearing her throat, she said, "Okay, you may go now."
Luna liked Ms. Lucia's overt dislike towards her. People who masked their hate towards her with a smile were just evil. She'd rather do that to others than let them do it to her.
However, right now, even if Ms. Lucia is hostile toward her, she has no choice but to reveal her real thoughts to her. There's no point in hiding since she knew her situation and she was someone who had power over her. It's better to gain her trust than have her hate her forever.
Luna excused herself immediately.
Finally, I can go home.
She fixed her table and went home, not minding the fact that most of the interns stayed overtime to gain some brownie points from their bosses.
Her action raised some eyebrows for some interns but some didn't mind it.
On her way home, she did not forget to drop by the supermarket to buy ingredients for the fortune cookies she had to make.
"How was your first day?" Terry immediately asked Luna the moment she stepped into the house. She was knitting a sweater on the sofa while watching a television program when Luna arrived.
"It was pretty much uneventful. I did the usual tasks people did in an office. I did a lot of translations and I think my journey is going to be smooth," Luna narrated as she sat on the sofa next to Terry.
"Well, that's good then. I can leave you here feeling at ease."
"You're leaving already?" Luna felt vulnerable all of a sudden. She did not mean to show it but her face suddenly turned gloomy. Terry had always been with her and now that she's leaving, she can't help but feel clingy towards her.
