Luna's next day off would be a week after her first visit to the waterpark. Unfortunately, the week after going to the waterpark did not proceed smoothly.
At work, Luna was not only tasked with translating trivial papers. Because of her efficiency, Ms. Lucia started allotting other tasks to her. She just found out about this recently but, Ms. Lucia was tasked to handle the exchange of information between the company branches abroad and their main branch, which was the company where Luna is currently working. Their department was like internet cables that connected everyone.
All files coming from outside the country pass through them because surprise, surprise, office politics, and nepotism allowed some incompetent relatives to slip in. They don't know the basic skill of understanding a widely-used language. That's why they had to translate the documents first before sending them to the specific departments they were supposed to go to.
So, Ms. Lucia's statement about all people on floor three and up understanding English was just a load of bull laid out just to scare her.
Ms. Lucia and Luna started rough but they eventually learned to work efficiently together. Some issues surfaced when two other employees were reassigned to join Ms. Lucia and Luna.
Her 'department' used to only have Ms. Lucia and her, but some higher-ups made some changes and now, the sensitive guy, Terrence, and the 'shy' girl, Lily are grouped with her, dealing with documents related to the company's trade abroad.
Because of her increasing workload, she had no time to look and apply for part-time jobs like she initially planned. It was difficult for her to juggle her workload and her problems together. She had to forget about having a part-time job for a while.
The two, Lily and Terrence, were transferred three days before Luna visited the waterpark. In Ms. Lucia's department, the four of them had only been working together for three days but the tension was so thick, that even an obtuse person would be able to spot it immediately.
Ms. Lucia originally rejected the idea of adding more people to control the information within just the two of them. Too bad, she cannot reject the two because it was the investors who recommended them.
Now, Ms. Lucia was struggling because the two were not only too nosy, but they also constantly argued with her and questioned her authority. They also cannot take constructive criticisms that Luna had no trouble receiving and applying in her work.
During their first three days, Ms. Lucia tasked them to translate trivial papers just like what Luna did when she had just started working under Ms. Lucia. But, the two complained, saying that they were here longer than Luna, so Ms. Lucia should trust them and assign more important tasks to them. They also suggested letting Luna deal with those menial things.
What they didn't understand was that Ms. Lucia was unfamiliar with their working style and she wanted to find those out by assigning them easy tasks first, seeing how they would deal with them. Their time within the company didn't matter to Ms. Lucia because it was their first time working with her. She wanted to see their abilities with her own eyes and not just rely on what others said about them. Because they kept on insisting on what they wanted, the vibe within their 'department' was not harmonious.
On her return to the office, Luna was tasked to create a presentation out of the budget proposal sent by the team abroad. Since the two did not take the task of translating documents, they kept on hounding Luna.
Lily kept on visiting Luna at her desk, trying to talk her into exchanging tasks.
Luna cannot take her annoying behavior anymore so she asks Lily, "Aren't you supposed to be the 'uhm-uhm' girl?"
