Another day has come. Luna arrived early at the company and Jack himself gave her a brief talk about what each floor has and which of them she's not supposed to go to. He then led Luna to a room full of interns like her on the first floor, showed her the desk where she was stationed, and left her a thick bundle of paper.

"I'm really glad you arrived way much earlier. Code Red has a schedule today and I have to go. Read these documents and you'll know what to do," Jack explained in a hurry. Aside from the stack of papers, he also brought a thick book out of his bag.

"This is the employees' guidebook. The organization chart, rules and regulations, direction around the company, where things are, your rights, what is expected of you- everything is in there. If you have any questions, call or text me. Never ask your fellow interns. You know what that means, right?"

The last bits he whispered to her.

"I got it. Thanks, Mr. Kandinsky."

The manager left in a hurry and Luna delved right into the stacked papers first. She knew Jack did not want her to form relationships among the interns for now. They were the most brutal competitors in the company because they all wanted to land a permanent spot and if they had to drag down a comrade, they would.

Luna was a special case and if they found out about it before she proved herself deserving of a spot among the interns, she'd be dead.

She felt grateful to have people who looked out for her.

She first scanned the stack of papers handed to her. It turned out to be a bunch of papers to be translated into English. She then turned to deal with the thick book of company guidelines but someone tapped her shoulder.

"Hey, newbie."

When she looked back, she saw a guy smiling widely at her. He looked young, which made him look harmless, but Luna knew better than to let her guard down just because the person in front of him resembled a sheep.

"Oh, hi. I'm sorry I wasn't able to introduce myself before. The guy just face-slapped me with thick documents on my first day."

"She purposely acted like she was not close with Jack.

"Yes, we all saw that. I'm Terrence, by the way."

The guy leaned his body on Luna's table while clutching a cup of steaming coffee in one of his hands. He offered the other towards her.

It was still too early and everyone was not yet in the office. Some were very aware of her presence, just like this guy right here, and some just didn't care and delved right into their work the moment they arrived.

"Hi, Terrence. I'm Luna. Thanks for the coffee."

She shook his hand and immediately turned her body away from the man. She wanted to send a message that she did not want to have a conversation right now because she had work to do, but Terrence did not understand the message or maybe he was just trying to ignore it.

"From what school did you graduate from? I'm from a prestigious school abroad. I graduated-"

"I'm sorry to interrupt but today is my first day. I'd like to concentrate on my work first. I will hang out with you later if I finally have the time to do so. I hope you don't mind."

Luna tried to push him away without offending him.

I hope he's not that sensitive.

The smile on Terrence's face melted. "Oh, okay. I'm sorry to bother you."

Oh, god. He's sensitive.

He left Luna's desk while sipping his cup of coffee. It turned out his desk was not even located anywhere near her.
