"How could I not know?" Jace asks.
"I spent a lifetime not knowing who I was. But, Jace, the one thing I know for sure is you are not a bad person. You're not Valentine." Clary tells him.
"I should have killed him. And yet I can't shake the feeling that he was right." Jace says.
"You are not weak, don't listen to what Valentine told you." Leya tells him as she stands up from the bed and walks over to him.
"Jace, Valentine is our father, too. We are the same..." Clary tells him as she walks over before Jace cuts her off.
"No, we're not, Clary. No, we are not. Me and Leya maybe. Jocelyn raised you. We were raised by Valentine, and a pair of baby booties isn't gonna change that." Jace tells her as he hands her the box.
"Stop!" Leya tells Jace as Clary grabs the box.
"Look, I can't even begin to explain what happened in our past, but our mom can. We are so close to waking her up. You want answers as badly as we do, we have to go back to the Hotel DuMort and talk to Camille." Clary says to Jace.
"Fine. Where's Simon?" Jace says as he sighs. ••• "Simon, wait!" Clary calls out as she Leya and Jace rush after Simon as he walks towards the front doors.
"What's going on?" Simon asks as he looks between all of them.
"We need your help." Jace tells him.
"The Book of the White. It contains a spell that can wake my mom, but she hid it so Valentine could never find it." Clary says to Simon.
"We have a lead." Jace tells Simon and Clary shows him the bookmark.
"The bookmark of the White?" Simon asks.
"No, Simon." Leya tells him.
"It's a piece of the book itself. Magnus tracked its owner to the Hotel DuMort, but..." Clary says before Leya finishes her sentence.
"It's Camille's." Leya says.
"Okay, um...I'll set a meeting with Raphael." Simon says as he looks at Clary.
"Thank you." Clary tells him and then he leaves. ••• "How's Lydia?" Clary asks as Alec walks up to them at the monitors.
"Better. Magnus is doing what he can to help her, but it's bad. And the cup is definitely missing." Alec says.
"So is Hodge." Jace says.
"Maybe he was attacked, too." Izzy says as she pulls up the feed.
"Maybe he's the one who attacked her." Clary says.
"Not likely." Leya tells her.
"Hodge? No way. We've known him our entire lives. He would never do that to us." Izzy says and then plays the footage of Hodge attacking Lydia.
