"Leya, we can't panic." Jace tells her.
"Of course we can! He's a psychopath, he's capable of anything. Simon's innocent in all of this. The only reason Valentine took him is because of me." Leya tells him and then Luke comes over.
"Hey. All the prisoners are either dead or gone. No sign of Cleophas." Luke tells them.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay." Jace tells her and then brings her into a hug and then her phone rings and they pull away as she pulls out her phone and sees Simon calling her.
"Answer it, Leya." Luke tells her and she answers it to see Simon tied up in a chair inside the institute with tape over his mouth and then Valentine walks into view.
"No." Leya says.
"Hello, Cataleya. Wish we were chatting under more civilized circumstances, but I'm afraid I've run out of options." Valentine tells her.
"Let Simon go." Leya tells him.
"Absolutely. Just as soon as you or your sister comes back to the institute. I need one of you to activate the sword for me." Valentine tells her.
"Never gonna happen." Leya tells him.
"Oh, but I think it will. Because if you don't show up within the hour...your vampire boyfriend here is gonna die a death I wouldn't wish upon anyone." Valentine tells her and then hangs up.
"Leya." Luke says as he stops her from walking.
"What are we waiting for?" Leya asks.
"That's what Valentine wants. You know that if you touch that sword, you could destroy the entire Downworld, including Simon." Luke tells her.
"No, he still needs an energy source." Leya tells him.
"He's got it. Every institute is powered by an angelic power core." Luke tells her.
"Alec's not picking up. Let's move." Jace tells them as he walks over.
"Valentine's going to wish he never laid a hand on Simon. I'm gonna make sure of it." Leya says and then walks away but Luke grabs her and pulls her back over to him and Jace.
"Whoa! You're not going anywhere near that Institute. We're taking you to Magnus. He's already protecting Clary there and he'll protect you, too." Luke tells her.
"Like hell I am! I need to save Simon." Leya tells him as she hits his hand off of her.
"The Downworld knows that you and Clary are the key to activating that sword. They want you both dead." Luke tells her.
"I can save Simon." Jace tells Leya.
"It doesn't work that way. It has to be me that shows up, or Valentine is going to kill Simon." Leya tells him.
