I don't remember when I managed to stop crying and fall asleep, but what I do know is I didn't sleep well. I kept waking up from dreams about Haydens dead body. His cold shoulder. His blue lips. Burying him.
I woke up to an alarm going off on my bedside table. I hit the clock with my hand making its blaring noise stop. I looked at the time, seven in the morning, the time Sir Cassander said we are meant to be up by if we want to get ready and head for breakfast at eight.
I got up and walked slowly into my bathroom. I strip my clothes off and take another shower as I still feel dirty. I need many showers to make up for the times I didn't have one.
At 7:55 there was a knock on my door. I open it, Jude stands there in a black top and black jeans. I wear a plain black crop top with leggings. It's something comfy so I'll wear it.
"Good morning, are you ready?" He breaks the silence lingering between us.
"Hi, yeah I'm ready."
We headed down to breakfast where we had pancakes and other bits like scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon. I ate a little bit of everything, feeling only slightly better than last night.
Now we have been told we can walk around for a bit before 9am, then we have our meeting about 'The future and other bits' as Sir Cassander mentions.
I am walking around this place with Arlo surprisingly. It's even larger than I thought. Last night when we were outside by the fire I forgot to look at the exterior of the building so I still don't know how big it actually is.
"So...How did you sleep?" Arlo asks me after a while of us walking around in silence.
"Not so good. You?" I pick at my nails.
He sighs. "Not good. Kept waking up feeling watched, like we did when we slept out there." He looks out a window.
I'm surprised we can actually make conversation as the last proper interaction we had was him yelling at me after we buried hayden.
"Are you afraid?" I question him out of nowhere, trying not to make this as awkward as it already is between us.
We stop at a window and both look out of it, he sighs and doesn't respond for a minute.
"Not really."
I blow out a breath, "How? I'm so afraid something is going to happen. I mean when we enter that meeting room who knows what we're going to hear about. It could be anything, for all I know we have superpowers and can kill everyone in the world."
Arlos eyes widen for a split second before he coughs and shakes it off with a nervous laugh.
"I completely doubt that will happen. End Point isn't a thing anymore."
I look at him, eyebrows pressed together in confusion. "You said anymore?"
"Yeah and?" He seems confused with me.
"You never once believed in End Point, now you suddenly do? What happened there? What changed your mind?" I question him again, nudging him lightly in his side, suddenly even more curious.
He clears his throat again and starts walking. "I didn't change my mind, it's just, if it was real, it isn't anymore. Well if you wouldn't believe that it's nearly nine. Better meet with the others."
Did he really just change the whole topic? I know he did, but why? He's avoiding the conversation of End Point, which I still don't really believe in even if there is history of it being a thing.
We meet at the dining hall since we actually know how to get there now, the four who are 'looking after us' are here waiting. Grayson smiles at me, so does Brooklyn even though she's talking to Valentina. Jude stands in front of us and gets everyone's attention.
