My ears are ringing from the alarms when we get outside, rain still pouring even harder. People outside are screaming like banshees, as if the world is ending. Fun fact, it might be.
A bullet flies past me and Grayson infront of our faces. If we had run any faster, that bullet would have gone through my face and probably into graysons.
The whole world doesn't feel real. Shots are being fired from every single direction, people are being thrown into the air, soldiers are running and throwing blades at us. I still don't know if I've been shot yet. It wouldn't surprise me.
"Liv, Liv!" Grayson yells, slowing us down. We both look behind us only to see Arlo, Jude, Brooklyn and Valentina have been stopped completely. Guards surround them until they don't. Arlo breaks all their necks in one head movement.
He stares at me from a distance. He smiles.
Bang.
A gunshot. One single gunshot. My smiling brother falls to the floor backwards.
"No, no!" A mutter turns into a yell. I run to him despite the pain I am in, I nearly fall on his bleeding body.
Tears bleed out of my eyes, a river being made along my red cheeks. I hold pressure over his neck, where he has been shot. Dark red blood pools on the concrete, staining it. Blood splurts between my fingers, I hold my hands there.
"No no no no Arlo please." I beg. Sobbing. "Don't leave, please don't go Arlo you'll be okay. Cassander help!" I scream.
He still smiles at me, he coughs, blood splutters onto his face and onto mine. His bloody hand reaches up to my face, he swipes my cheek. My wet hair sticks to my face, dark crimson blood pools out and mixes with rain water.
"You're going to-" Arlo coughs again, the dark substance oozing out of the wound and his mouth. "You're going to be the most known person on this earth Olivia, trust me."
I sob at his words. Shaking my head.
"I love you forever and ever-" I can feel him growing weaker, his voice turns rasped and nearly gone. "I'm so sorry for every-" He wheezes. "Everything, Liv."
He goes still. His eyes close.
"No, no no no Arlo please Arlo." I put my forehead on his chest. Hyperventilating as i do, blubbering and screaming and i cant breath i can't do anything i can't.
Arms wrap around my waist and start to pull me backwards, away and off of my dead brother.
"NO, STOP IT YOU BASTARDS-" I cry out. I kick my legs and try to scratch his arms but this person is too strong.
"Olivia look at me Olivia look at me." Jude puts me down and holds my arms while looking at me. "We have to get to the plane, do you understand? We have to get back to the plane then I promise you we can sort this all out okay?" He speaks quickly but in a reassuring tone. I just stand there, staring at him, eyes wide, mouth open and lip quivering. Tears fall without me blinking. "Come on, I believe in you, you can do this. Come on, let's get back to the plane."
Jude starts walking quickly, still looking at me to make sure I come. I jog slightly but I can't go in a straight line. I'm everywhere, a mess.
We catch up to the others and start jogging again. I can't think. No tears are falling anymore, am I even breathing? When we are running it should only take ten minutes to get to the forest.
Shots are suddenly being fired again from behind us. I see the entrance to the forest. I speed up a little before slowing down again, Jude yells out in pain, holding his leg. He's been shot.
"Shit! Olivia keep going, it's okay we're nearly there." he doesn't worry about himself he just wants to make sure i get back safely.
"Jaxon! Help Jude he's been shot!" I yell over the rain. Jaxon runs back and rips a bit of his shirt off in an instant, wrapping it around his thigh and helping Jude up. I hear more shots, and then a familiar voice. Uncle Bailey runs down the bottom steps and starts walking quickly towards me.
"Uncle Bailey you can't be here! Go back! Go back!" I attempt to lure him back into the building, where it's dry and safe from the gunshots. He shouts, "I'm sorry my girl! I'm sorry for everything!"
Another bang.
Another shot.
Another shot that went straight through Uncle Bailey's head.
I stare. I stare at the body on the floor. Again. Another one dead. No family. None left.
"Olivia-" Jude starts to speak but i don't listen. I go into the forest and I run. I sprint as if I'm doing a marathon, about to win first place. I ignore the shooting pain coming from my thigh and I ignore the gun shots. I ignore Jaxon and Jude who are slowly running behind me. Thunder and lightning strike at the same time. Everything's a blur. Lightning strikes a tree ahead of me. The tree lights up in flames, trying to stay alight and push through the rain. That tree is me. I am pushing through whatever the fuck i just saw and went through. When I get on the plane I'll think then. For now I'm going to run until I find myself bleeding out from my stab wound and in complete pain from my damaged lungs and bruised ribs and cuts on my face. I now realise that with the amount of times i have walked through this forest, i have lost people. The first time I walked through this forest, I slowly lost myself. On the way back through the forest I had lost a friend and myself in the process, but made friends on the way and had created a somewhat called home. And now on the way back to End Point through the forest, for the third and hopefully last time, I have lost all of my family. They're all dead. I have no one but myself. I am the last Roberts to survive and carry on our bloodline. I am lonely.
I have no sympathy for anyone who complains about their family, be lucky you have any.
