We have been here now for just over a month. I'm happy, I think. Me and Grayson have gotten way closer, and are nearly inseparable now. Valentina, Raven and Faye are what I call my best friends. As Well as Grayson of course. Me and the girls all hang out most evenings, but Raven doesn't sometimes, I still don't know where she goes. Me and Grayson walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner together. Jude has started talking to me again. I don't know why. It makes me feel kind of, dumb? Stupid for doing it and giving in to him. I had never done that with anyone, then he decided to ignore me. I try to act normal around him, as if nothing actually happened.
"Come on kid." Grayson slaps me round the back of the head gently.
"Ow. I'm in pain! I can't attend the meeting anymore. Oh goodness what have you done to me!" I laugh, then fall into his arms to act as if I were dead.
"Well I guess I'll just have to drag your dead body to the meeting then." I can't see his face, but I can tell he was smiling when he said that.
"No no ok i'm sorry please no!" I squeal as he starts dragging me, the back of my shoes start to drag across the floor. "Let me gooooo." I giggle, becoming weak from laughter. He suddenly lets go of me, so I drop straight onto my ass. "Thank you." I say, stumbling but getting up. I flick his head.
Sir Cassander is holding a meeting with me, Grayson and Arlo. bit of an awkward trio since Arlo is going to be there. I also haven't spoken to him since that day, I haven't bothered to. If he isn't going to act like a brother, he doesnt exist to me.
We get to the meeting room and Cassander and Arlo are already there waiting for us. Smiles are gone, laughing has disappeared, straight and serious faces are in place.
"Hello both." Cassander speaks, we both sit down next to each other, opposite Arlo. "So, I've come to talk to you three about End Point and The Intelligent. Before you three came to End Point, we thought we had this figured out, we thought we had everything under control. But it appears we don't. Grayson, when your brother turned eighteen, where did he go?"
Grayson is silent for a moment, but then he speaks. I didn't even know he had a brother.
"He went and joined The Intelligent for us and our Grandma, we were low on cash and had to get some one way or another."
"Yes that's right, but did you also know he has the same powers as you?"
I hear Grayson draw in a harsh breath. "No, I didn't know that."
"When he was sixteen, he had a year away until he turned seventeen to come here. He gained his powers, he was damn good at what he did, but then he begged to go back to The Intelligents world to be with you and your Grandma. Then he turned eighteen three years ago and is still working there to this day." Cassander takes a deep breath, and I'm starting to wonder why me and Arlo are even here. "It was a difficult decision bringing you here, but we decided to anyway. Now we see that was a mistake. Jace Peterson seems to have found out that you and Josh are related, and somehow, he sent us this note."
He puts the note in the middle of the table for all of us to see. It reads:
'We will find every one of you, and it won't be pretty when we do. -JP'
"Well shit." Is all Grayson says. I'm confused by it.
"So basically you're telling us that, Jace has found out from Josh that Grayson has come here, so now Jace knows about End Point and they're going to find us and start a war?" I basically sum it up.
Sir Cassander nods."It's what we've been training you for, we just didn't realise it would be this quick. We thought we were safe with having Grayson here, but clearly Jace somehow got information from Josh. Ridiculous really. I thought we could have trusted your brother."
"When?" I ask.
The room is silent, my leg starts bouncing up and down again.
"When what?" Cassander seems confused, but I know he knows what I'm on about.
"When will they come? When will we all die?"
"None of us will die i promise, yes the soldiers have guns and bombs, but you have yourselves. All together, your powers can kill hundreds, maybe thousands with more training. We don't know exactly when they will come. But the reason why I pulled Arlo and Olivia out as well is because if they find End Point, they would have done research and more or likely hacked into our systems and found out everything about you including your power. Arlo and Olivia, if you couldn't tell you both have the strongest power out of all of you. They will look for you two to take. So you two will need to train extra hard, me and Natalie think it's best that we add an extra hour in for morning training, so you will have late lunch but that will be fine." Cassander goes on.
"Bullshit." I say.
"Excuse you?"
"Bullshit. This is all bullshit. Why should we have to train and work for you extra hard? Your the one who made us go on a fucking plane and then the pilot drugged us! To make things better, the plane crashed! Aswell, i watched a boy die, my friend!" My voice breaks. "And now we have powers and you're telling us that there's a war and all of us will die? This is fucking bullshit i cant do it its ridiculous!" Tears stream down my face. I've had enough of all of this. "Excuse me." I get up and make a dramatic exit, again. I go straight to my room, i feel like a little kid who has just been sent to her room, but instead i am a 17-year old who has just found out i could go into war.
I shut my door and lay on my back on my bed, I stare at the ceiling, silent tears sliding into my hair like snakes.
A gentle knock on my door wakes me up from my drowning thoughts.
"Come in." I don't bother to see who it is.
Grayson lays beside me. "Oh Liv. you really are good at making dramatic exits."
I choke out a laugh between a sob.
"It just isn't fair. At all. I'm Seventeen years old. Does he really think I'm ready for this? I didn't want to do it in the first place." I sniffle.
Graysons knuckles gently brush against my cheek, wiping away the tears that keep on flowing. I don't know how I have any tears left, the amount I cry every week.
"You have me," I tilt my head to the left to where he is, he's looking at me like he did when we just went into the ocean on the island, then we sat around the fire and he looked at me like he is now. "If you have me you don't have to worry about anything. I promise you that."
"Okay Gray." I whisper. A sigh escapes my lips and I continue to stare at the ceiling. His hand connects with mine, I grip onto his tightly.
"Didn't know you had a brother, Josh?" I keep up the conversation.
"Yep, Josh. Josh Josh Josh."
"Why have you never mentioned him?" I am now genuinely curious.
He doesn't respond for a minute, but then plucks up the courage. "Because I don't want him getting killed. So I never mention him to anyone I see and know. I didn't think Cassander knew about him. The Intelligent is fucked up. They've already shot him in the arm before. He's lucky to be alive. And now I'm here, I don't know if he's still alive or not. By what he said though it seems he is alive, I just hope not being tortured." He vents. And I suddenly feel awful for asking the question.
"Oh Gray...i'm sorry." I say. "Is he a good brother?"
"Hes a really good fucking brother." He smiles, as though he's thinking of the memories between them.
I know people have stories, but I feel like everyone here at End Point has so much worse experiences with life. But I can't say anything, I know no one's story apart from mine, Arlos and now a bit of Graysons. I know nothing and that makes me worry.
I know I said I was happy, but I don't think I can stay happy for a long period of time. It hurts. It hurts to be happy.
