𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀

an all nighter

After leaving the school, the group had gone back to the Wheeler house. Since it was late and Nancy's house was the biggest, they were going to crash there and wake up early to figure out how to save Max. However, Max couldn't sleep. I mean, how could after finding out you'd be dying the next day. So, after everyone, but Max and Asher had fallen asleep, Asher had walked out to the desk that Max was sat at. After finding out that Max was under Vecna's curse thing, Asher knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep, and he also didn't want to leave her alone.

"What you up to?" Asher asks as he sees that Max is writing on a piece of paper, who quickly covers up what she is writing.

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Max asks as she looks up at Asher.

"I should be, but I didn't want to leave you on your own" Asher says to Max "And me staying awake gives me more time to figure out how to save your life, so--"

"Ash" Max says with a sigh.

"What? Do you not want us to stop you from dying?" Asher asks Max.

"I'm just saying, we don't even know what this Vecna thing is or how to stop him" Max explains to Asher "There isn't a high possibility we're going to figure it out in one day."

"I'll find a way" Asher explains to Max "I'm not losing you."

"Last time I checked, you aren't my boyfriend" Max says to Asher with a sigh.

"Doesn't stop me from caring about you" Asher says to Max, who gives him a small smile in return "So, what are you doing?"

"Accepting my fate" Max says, making Asher look confused "They're just a fail safe for if the worst happens."

"So you're writing letters?" Asher asks Max, who nods.

"See, I knew that you're more than just a pretty face" Max jokes, making Asher laugh.

"Have you wrote mine yet?" Asher asks Max, who holds up a letter with his name written on the envelope.

"Your's was the first one I wrote" Max tells Asher, making him smile.

"Can I read it?" Asher asks as he goes to grab it, but Max pulls it away from him.

"Nope" Max bluntly says.

"What, did you confess your love to me in that thing or something?" Asher jokes, trying to cheer Max up a bit.

"You wish" Max jokes back "Hey, can I ask you something?"

"You already did but go ahead" Asher says, making Max roll her eyes.

"If everything that happened in the summer didn't happen, do you think that we'd be in the position that we're in now?" Max asks Asher, which makes him think for a bit.

If all the stuff with the Mind Flayer and the Russians didn't happen in the summer, he wasn't really sure if he would of been as close to Max and the others as he is now. After he got out of juvie, he had a week until Eddie had gotten back from his trip with his uncle, which meant that he would of only hung around them until then. He didn't plan on becoming as close with Dustin's friends as he did; he just needed some people to hang around with while he had no friends. So, if that had happened, he's not sure if him and Max would of ended up in the position they're in now.

"You mean me getting dumped by you?" Asher asks Max.

"I mean us. Like would we of ever happened?" Max asks Asher.

"To be honest, I'm not sure" Asher says with a shrug "But I'm sort of glad it did happen because then I wouldn't of been chasing around this red haired girl that I fallen... that I like."

"What were you going to say?" Max asks Asher, noticing that he had paused part of the way through his sentence.

"Nothing" Asher says, shaking his head.

"You were going to say something" Max mentions "You paused."

"Wasn't going to say anything" Asher says again "I think you're sleep deprived."

"Whatever you say, Ash" Max says with a smile, making Asher smile back at her.
