After leaving the trailer park, Nancy and Robin had left to go follow a different lead while Max, Asher, Dustin and Steve had gone to see Miss Kelly.
"So, which one of you two are going in?" Dustin asks as he turns around to Max and Asher, who are both sat in the back seats of the car.
"Well, I am the best liar and I'm good at stealing shit, so me" Asher says as he goes to get out of the car.
"What are you even going to talk about?" Max asks "Do you have anything to say that you haven't already said?"
"Yeah, I do" Asher says to Max "Trust me, I'm good at this kind of shit" He says before getting out of the car and walking to the front door of Miss Kelly's house before knocking, and the door immediately opens.
"Asher, hi" Miss Kelly says to Asher with a smile.
"Hi, I'm sorry to bother you over spring break, but can I come in?" Asher asks.
"Um, yeah, of course" Miss Kelly says before letting Asher into the house, leading him to the living room "So, Asher, what do you want to talk about?"
"Um, it's just, I was sort of friends with Chrissy, you know, before she died" Asher says to Miss Kelly "Like, we talked at school and we had a couple of classes together, and I went to juvie for standing up for her... it's just I can't really... I don't know. It just kind of reminds me about the shit that happened last year."
"You've experienced trauma, Asher" Miss Kelly says "You've experience more trauma than you should at your age. And when you keep your pain and your feelings bottled up the way you do, it doesn't take much to trigger them again. So now, when it rains, it storms."
"Yep, I know" Asher bluntly says with a nod.
"Do you think you're ready to properly talk to me?" Miss Kelly asks Asher. Asher has never really properly talked about anything with Miss Kelly, so he thought that if he did, it would be a good distraction before he gets her keys for her office. It was a long shot, but hopefully it would work.
"My dad has been abusing me ever since I was three years old" Asher tells the woman "When I was younger, I went to the cops at one point to tell them what was going on because I just couldn't take it anymore, but they did nothing to help. Not even a fucking house inspection. So, as I was getting older, I knew they wouldn't do shit to help me so I started to deal with it on my own. The only three people who have ever helped me is Eddie, Dustin and Dustin's mom. They help as much as they can, but I still have to go back there. And I mean, I love him 'cause he's my dad and the only family I have left after my brother skipped town, so I can't just leave him, you know?"
"It must be very hard having a family member you love so much treat you in such a horrible way" Miss Kelly says to Asher "But sometimes, you have to put your own safety first. Do you even think about your safety?"
