𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀

the war zone

The group had finally made it to the War Zone after a couple hours of driving. Once they finally made it, Eddie, Dustin and Lucas had decided to stay in the trailer van, knowing that if Jason and his friends are there, then they'd be dead. Asher was in the same boat as the three, but he went in with them anyways. Nancy and Robin had told him to stay with the three, but Asher didn't listen to the two girls, knowing that he could take care of himself.

"Jesus Christ, it's busy here" Asher mentions as the group walk into the War Zone, seeing basically everyone from Hawkins there. He wasn't surprised that everyone was there, but it still didn't help the fact that he was at risk of Jason and his buddies seeing him.

"Yeah, so much for avoiding angry hicks" Robin adds on.

"Let's be... fast" Nancy mentions before the group splits up. The more ground they cover, the faster they could leave, which meant they all had to split up.

As Asher was walking around, he kept an eye out for the basketball team, who he luckily didn't see, but that didn't stop someone that he knows seeing him. "Ash, hey!" Carrie says with a smile as she walks over to Asher.

"Hey Carrie" Asher says to the girl "What are you doing here?"

"Just stocking up, you know? With everything going on my parents don't want me leaving the house without anything to protect me" Carrie says with a nervous laugh "I'm sorry about what's going on. I know you and Eddie are close."

"Thanks" Asher says with a nod "Yeah, it's a bit rough. Just wish I could be there for him, you know? But I have no clue where he is."

"Is it true? Did he actually kill them?" Carrie asks Asher, knowing that if Eddie did actually kill someone, Asher would know.

"Eddie isn't the kind of person to go around killing people" Asher quickly says, sticking up for his best friend "So, you having a good spring break?"

"Before all of this started, yeah I was" Carrie says with a small smile "What about you? Been up to anything interesting?"

"Same old shit" Asher says with a shrug "Nothing interesting."

"Um, I've been meaning to ask you something" Carrie nervously says to Asher.

"Okay?" Asher says, hinting for Carrie to carry on.

"So, I've liked you for a while, and you know, since you're single and I'm single I thought I should ask you, um..." Carrie nervously asks "Why don't we go out sometime?"

"This is awkward" Asher mutters out with a laugh "Look, Carrie, you're a good friend, but um... I'm back together with Max now."

"Oh" Carrie says in a disappointed tone "I'm so sorry, I've probably made this so awkward."

"No, no. It's fine" Asher reassures her.

"But I'm happy for you" Carrie says to Asher with a small smile "You deserve to be happy and obviously she makes you happy."

"Yeah, she does" Asher mentions as he looks around the room, where he sees Jason and Nancy talking "Um, I'be got to go, but I'll see you at school, yeah?"

"Yeah, bye Ash" Carrie says before Asher walks over to Jason and Nancy.

"Hey, Nance, you good?" Asher asks as he walks up to the two, catching both their attentions.

"I'm fine" Nancy nervously says as Jason is holding on to the shotgun that Nancy is holding.

"Hey, how about you let go of the gun, man?" Asher says to Jason as he glares at him.

"Surprised to see you here, Hart" Jason says to Asher as he lets go of the gun, turning his body to face Asher "Not wanting to be a junkie like your dad today?"

"Don't talk about my dad" Asher says, stepping closer to Jason.

"We know you've been with Eddie" Jason mentions to Asher "You in on it too? You going around killing people with him like the psychopath you are?"

"Say one more word and I'll rip that prepubescent face off" Asher glares at Jason, making Nancy pull him back, knowing Asher is a few seconds away from punching Jason in the face.

"Will you? Because I remember what happened the last time, do you?" Jason asks with a laugh "And just to give you a little warning, Eddie isn't the only person we're after."

"I swear to God, if you go near any of my friends, I'll kill every single one of you" Asher tells Jason.

"Ash, leave it" Nancy says to Asher, trying to stop a scene from happening "Let's just go."

"Yeah, Hart, run like the little bitch you are" Jason says to Asher as Asher goes to hit Jason, but Nancy pulls his arm back and drags him away from Jason.

"What were you thinking?" Nancy scolds Asher "You already know that we're trying to avoid people, but you just had to cause a scene."

"I couldn't let him talk about my dad and Eddie like that" Asher says to Nancy as they make it outside "Come on, Nance, if someone talked about Mike like that, you'd do the same."

"I wouldn't have with the situation we're in" Nancy says to Asher with a sigh "This is why we told you to stay in the van."

"Just because I'm actually sticking up for my friends?" Asher asks with a scoff.

"Because you're being reckless" Nancy argues back "If you had actually hit him, not only would you have caused a fight, but the rest of his friends would have probably joined in. Not only would you get arrested and sent back to jail, but you also would of been away from Max. She needs you right now, Ash. You can't go around doing stupid shit like that."

"Okay, I get it" Asher says with a sigh "It won't happen again."

"Good" Nancy says with a nod "Now lets get back to the van before anyone else sees you."
