𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀

ready for bat-tle

The original plan the group had was for Asher to go with Dustin and Eddie to distract the bats. So, if something happened that wasn't planned, Asher would be there to help them, but Asher refused. With this plan, Asher didn't want to leave Max in case something happened to her, which Dustin and Eddie understood. They both knew how much Max meant to Asher, so they knew that he had to be there for her, so they told him that he should go with her. But, to help them, Asher was making shields with the two, with the trash can lids they found with a lot of nails. Even if Asher wasn't going with them, he still wanted to make sure they at least had some protection.

"How's it feeling?" Dustin asks Eddie, who is waving around the shield that him and Asher had just finished making.

"Light. But durable" Eddie mentions "Deadly. But reliable. Hear me now. There will be no more retreating... from Eddie the Banished."

"That sounds like a cool band name" Asher points out "Like Eddie and the Banished? It sounds cool."

"Yeah, it actually sort of does" Eddie nods in approval.

"Hey, you're really ready for bat-tle" Dustin says with a laugh, making Eddie and Asher give him a confused look "You get it? Bat-tle. B-A-T."

"Yeah, we get it. It's just a shit joke" Asher says with a shrug "And traumatising. You know one of those things ate the flesh off of my arm. I could have died."

"But you didn't?" Dustin defends himself.

"Again, I could have" Asher says before turning to look at Eddie "Didn't I nearly get rabies and die?"

"Oh yeah, totally" Eddie sarcastically says, making Asher roll his eyes.

"You're no help, you know that, right?" Asher jokingly asks Eddie "Robin said she could nearly see my bones. My bones!"

"That is true" Eddie points out "You could see the bone. I saw it."

"See, Dustin, I could have died" Asher says to Dustin "Using traumatic jokes. Should be ashamed of yourself."

"Sorry" Dustin mumbles out "I thought it was a good one" Dustin mentions right before Eddie tackles him, making Asher jump on Eddie's back.

"Why are you on my back?" Eddie asks Asher, as he lets go of Dustin, trying to get Asher off of his back.

"Being a distraction" Asher says with a laugh before he jumps off of Eddie's back, right before Dustin starts tackling Eddie.

"What? You tricked me!" Eddie yells over to Asher as he tries to get Dustin off of him.

"No, I distracted you, there's a difference" Asher says with a laugh as Eddie and Dustin stop tackling each other, making Eddie wrap his arms around Asher and Dustin's shoulders.

"Never change. The both of you" Eddie says to the two with a smile "Promise me?"

"Wasn't planning on it" Dustin tells Eddie, making Eddie look over at Asher.

"Dude, you know I'll never change" Asher says with a smile "I've always been me."

"Good. Good" Eddie says to the both of them with a nod before letting go of them "Hey, Sinclairs. How are those, uh... those spears coming on?" Eddie shouts over to them, making Lucas give him a thumbs up.

"Dustin?" Asher says, making Dustin turn around to face him "Look, I'm not going to be there when you and Eddie are distracting those bat things. So promise me, if anything goes south, anything at all... promise me that you and Eddie will get the fuck out of there."

"But--" Dustin goes to say but Asher cuts him off.

"No. No buts. If anything happens, you guys get out of there" Asher sternly tells Dustin "Those bats are lethal, okay? I don't want you and Eddie risking yourselves and getting hurt. So, if anything happens you get the fuck out of there, okay?"

"Okay" Dustin says with a nod as Max comes walking over to them "Um, I'll leave you two alone" Dustin says before walking over to Eddie, making Asher turn around to see Max.

"Can I talk to you?" Max asks Asher.

"Um, y-y-yeah, sure" Asher nervously says with a nod as Max sits on the ground, making Asher join her. Whenever a girl asks if they can talk to you, it never ends up going well, so Asher started thinking of all of the things he could have possibly done wrong in the past few hours. Thinking of what Max could have been annoyed over.

"I just wanted to tell you to be careful" Max tells Asher "I know you're only going to be a distraction but--"

"Max, I'm not going with Eddie and Dustin" Asher cuts her off, making Max look at him in surprise.

"Your not? But Nancy and Steve said that you were?" Max asks with a confused tone.

"I'm staying with you" Asher tells Max "I told Dustin and Eddie that I wanted to stay with you, and they're both good with it, so I'm staying with you."

"Really?" Max asks with a smile.

"Can't let anything bad happen to you, can I?" Asher asks Max with a small smile "Gotta be there to save you from Vecna."

"My hero" Max sarcastically says, making Asher laugh.

"And then, when all of this is over, I'm gonna take you on a proper date" Asher mentions. When they got together, the two never actually went on a proper date, with Max still grieving over Billy. But now, Asher wanted to do his best to make Max happy, and one of those things was to take her on a real date.

"We've never been on a date before" Max points out to Asher.

"Which is why I'll go all out. Flowers, dinner, movie... whatever you want" Asher tells Max with a smile.

"I'd like that" Max says with a smile.

"Just wait for it, 'cause it'll be the best date you've ever been on" Asher confidentially says to his girlfriend.
