𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀

Asher woke up that morning by hearing knocking on his door; and knowing that his dad wouldn't get up to go answer, Asher quickly got out of bed before his dad could even make him answer the door. "What are you two doing here?" Asher asks Max and Dustin, before quickly turning around to make sure that his dad is still passed out on the couch.

"I have no idea" Dustin says with a shrug "Max literally dragged me over here."

"Can we come in?" Max asks, looking between Asher and Asher's dad, making sure he was still passed out.

"Just be quiet okay, if he wakes up he's going to be pissed if I let people in" Asher mentions as he quickly leads the two to his room, which was a complete mess "Um, sorry for the mess."

"Why is your mattress on the floor?" Max asks Asher, as she picks it up and puts it back on the bed for him.

"I kinda threw it at my dad the other night" Asher says with a sigh "Yeah, it wasn't the best idea in the world. And I couldn't be bothered to pick it up, so I've been sleeping on the floor the past couple nights."

"Why didn't you come over?" Dustin asks Asher.

"It was at like, three in the morning" Asher says with a shrug "Didn't want to wake you guys up."

"Ash--" Dustin goes to say but Asher cuts him off.

"It doesn't matter" Asher quickly says, not wanting to continue the conversation "So, why are you guys here?" Asher asks, making the two boys look at Max, who starts to explain what had happened the night before.

"Chrissy Cunningham?" Dustin asks Max after she's finished explaining "You're sure it was Chrissy?"

"Yes, she was in her cheerleader outfit" Max explains "Same thing she was in when I saw her with Eddie."

"Did you tell all of this to the cops?" Dustin asks Max with a sigh as Asher sits silently.

"No" Max quickly says "No, but I... I can't be the only one who saw them together. I mean, they stood out."

"Eddie the freak with Chrissy the cheerleader?" Dustin asks, not being able to get his head around the whole thing.

"Exactly" Max confirms "You know, his name's not in the news yet or anything, but i guarantee you Eddie is suspect number one now."

"That's crazy" Asher pipes up "No way Eddie would do something like that" Asher says, making Max give him a weird look "No way."

"We can't rule it out" Max argues back with Asher.

"Yes we fucking can" Asher says as he stands up.

"Ash!" Max yells, wanting to get her point across.

"You don't know him, Max, okay? When I first met Eddie, he helped me steal a bunch of food because I hadn't ate in three days. After that, Eddie was the first person to give a fuck about me" Asher explains to Max "He brings me lunch every day, he taught me how to play the guitar, he helps me pay for new clothes, shoes and food. He never had to do anything like that but he did. Do you know why? Because he is a good person. He is one of the few people in the world to give a shit about me. Out of all of the people in the world, Eddie is one of the best people around. There is no way he'd kill someone. No way."

"Okay, well, I mean, they said the same shit about Ted Bundy" Max says, making Asher roll his eyes "Yeah, he's a super nice guy, but then he's murdering women on the weekend."

"Fucking hell, Max. You're seriously comparing Eddie to Ted Bundy?" Asher asks Max in disbelief "Are you actually being fucking serious right now?"

"No I'm not... I'm just... I'm just saying that we can't rule anything out, okay?" Max argues back with Asher "Look, I know that Eddie is your best friend, and it might be hard for you to think that he would ever do something like this, but Chrissy was found in his trailer and the last person who was seen with Chrissy was Eddie. It's the only logical explanation we have right now."

"He didn't do it" Asher says to Max with a glare, being a bit pissed off "I know for a fact that he didn't do it. There is no way Eddie would hurt someone. Yeah, he pisses people off and hates pretty much everyone, but there is no way he'd hurt someone."

"I'm not saying that he did do it, okay?" Max tries to say to Asher "But right now, it doesn't look good for Eddie" She says, making Asher sigh as he sits down next to Dustin.

"Why haven't you told the cops this?" Dustin asks Max.

"I... I don't know" Max says, crossing her arms.

"You don't know?" Dustin repeats.

"There's obviously a reason that you didn't tell the cops but you told us" Asher mentions to Max "What happened?"

"After I saw Eddie and Chrissy go into his trailer" Max says as she walks over to sit next to Asher "Something else happened" Max says as she explains how the lights and television started flickering in her trailer right before Eddie left his trailer, screaming and looking like he had saw a ghost "Nothing that weird or anything. I mean... Eddie always drives like a maniac, and the power goes off at my place all of the time. It's a piece of shit. But... this morning, I started to think back, and... I don't know. The look on his face. He was scared. Really scared. Maybe he was scared because, you know... he'd just killed someone, or... maybe, um--"

"Something else killed her" Dustin finishes off Max's sentence, making Max nod her head.

"But that's impossible" Max mentions "Right?"

"I don't know" Dustin whispers out "It should be. There's only one person who knows what actually happened."

"Eddie."
