As Max fell to the ground, Asher caught her, not wanting her to get anymore hurt than she already had. The bones in her arms and legs had snapped and blood trailed down her eyes. But as Asher sat there with Max in his arms, Erica and Lucas ran up the stairs, seeing the scene in front of them. The way Max was lying on the ground, being held in Asher's arms. And the look on Asher's face, the two would never forget it. The look of fear and sadness. To them, they had never seen Asher look as broken as he did now, and it scared them.
"We need a doctor!" Asher tells the two as he turns around to face them "Get an ambulance, now!"
"Okay, okay, just wait there" Lucas tries to reassure Asher before him and Erica run back downstairs, trying to find the nearest working phone.
"Ash" Max chokes out, making Asher look down at her.
"I'm here, Max. I'm here" Asher tells her, trying not to cry.
"I... I can't feel or..." Max struggles to say "see anything."
"You're going to be okay" Asher reassures her "We're going to get you help and you're going to be okay. Just hold on for me."
"Ash, I'm scared. I'm so scared" Max says, making the tears fall from Asher's eyes, mixing with the blood on his face.
"I know, but you're going to be okay" Asher says, kissing her forehead "I've got you."
"I don't wanna die. I'm not ready" Max cries out.
"You're not gonna die" Asher tells her.
"I don't wanna go! I'm not ready" Max cries out again.
"You're not gonna die, okay? Just hold on, we're gonna get you some help" Asher cries as he holds Max in his arms "Max, don't die on me, okay? Please, Max, don't die on me."
"Asher" Max quietly says "Remember how you told me you love me?"
"Yeah?" Asher asks, looking down at Max, remembering accidentally telling her that he loves her when they went to Billy's grave.
"I love you too" Max whispers out before everything goes dead silent.
"Max?" Asher asks, getting no reply from the girl "Max, come on, stay with me. Max! Don't go, Max. Please don't go. Max?" Asher asks again but gets no reply "Max? Come on, talk to me. Max?" Asher asks again but yet no reply "Lucas! Erica! Get an ambulance! Hurry!" Asher yells at the top of his lungs before turning back to look at Max with tears falling from his eyes "Come on, Max. I can't lose you now."
"The ambulance is on it's way!" Erica shouts as she runs up the stairs to see Asher in tears, holding Max's body. Erica had never heard of anyone ever seeing Asher cry. From what she had heard about him; nothing ever scared him or made him cry, so seeing Asher in tears made her know that Asher was hurt, so she did the only thing that she could think of and walked over to him and hugged him.
"I can't lose her" Asher cries, putting his head on Erica's shoulder.
"She's going to be okay" Erica whispers as Asher cries into her shoulder, hoping that what Erica was saying is true.
