The familiar horned man quietly looks at the dorm, as if waiting for something, or someone to appear. His thoughts are interrupted as he hears the sound of bare footsteps in the snow, his eyes landing on familiar white hair, which stood out despite the snow blanketing the ground. He looks at her, seeing that she was panting from running, or more precisely, trying to avoid slipping on the thins strips of ice that layer the walkway here and there. He could tell that she rushed out to see him, seeing how she had the messy appearance of a jacket and no shoes on, making him chuckle at the thought. He never had anyone rush out to meet him before aside from people being obligated to do so.
"Hi, Midnight!" She happily says as she looks at him after catching her breath. She relished at the fact that she didn't slip and fall on the ice on her way to meeting him. For some reason, the air around them became warmer, or was that her imagination?
He smiles. "Greeting, child of man," he says. "It's been some time. I trust all is well?" She had to think about the statement. It has been some time, huh? The last time she remembered meeting him was in the library, which was months ago, at least a few days before winter holiday started. Based on that, it's been about a month and half or two months since they last met. She looked at him, seeing that he was quietly waiting for her answer, and she smiles and nod, not wanting to go through the details but at least happy that she at least saw another friend of hers. "I'm glad to hear it," he says with a smile. "It's good to see you in high spirits."
She looks at him, a thought coming to her. Since its been a while, does that mean that he considers her a friend? I mean...he was happy to see me...Does that mean that we are friends? She observes him, seeing that he was simply enjoying the quiet atmosphere around them. Wait... A thought came to her, remembering something.
"I came to deliver a holiday greeting card from a certain somebody," he says as he hands her an envelope, leaving her confused as she slowly takes it, hoping it's not another scare from Lilia. He looks at her skeptical look and just smiles at her, showing that the envelope was harmless. She slowly opens the envelope and, as Lilia said, inside was a card with a picture of a castle in the background with the words 'Happy Holidays' on the front. She looked at the card in confusion, wondering who would send her a greeting card, especially through a vice housewarden of a dorm during holiday break.
That's right... She thinks as her eyes widen in realization. He looks at her, almost sensing that she had a questions for him, and she hesitates, hoping that her conclusion wasn't wrong. "Were you the one who sent the holiday greeting card?" She cautiously asks, hope rising.
He thinks for a moment, only to wide his eyes in realization. "Ah..." he says in thought. "That's right, I did give a card to Lilia to send. I never received a reply, though," he frowns, making her instantly feel bad. He didn't tell me to send a reply card! By the time I read it, he was gone! She pouts, remembering how quickly he just left as soon as he appeared. She huffs. I could have at least gave him SOMETHING in return at least. He watches her, seeing her face contorting into a pout to annoyance in a second, almost laughing at her emotions, but he knew it wasn't towards him. "You've surmised correctly," he said, bringing her out of her thoughts. "You really have no idea who I am, do you? Heh," he chuckles.
She tilts her head in confusion, wondering why he keeps saying that. Is he someone that's important like Vil? She thinks. No...that's not right. Though Vil is well known, he doesn't announce it that he's important. In fact, compared to Midnight, he could basically announce it by just saying his name. For Midnight though, he seemed a little reserved, almost keeping himself quiet. Why is that? She shook the thoughts away, seeing that he was still smiling at her, internally laughing at her. She pouts, only to remember something as she outs her hands in her pocket, feeling a familiar object inside. She looks at him with hopeful eyes. "I'd like to give you something in return for the card," she says as she pulls out the tickets in her pocket and hands it to him.
He looks at the tickets closely. "Are these...tickets to the show they're putting on this year's culture fair?" he curiously asks as he looks at the tickets. After a while, he looks at her in surprise. "Are you actually inviting me?" He asks her. She looks at him in confusion and nods. "Heh..." He chuckles. "Heh heh heh...Ha ha ha!" He laughs, making her more confused. "You truly have no fear at all. Very well. I shall accept your gracious invitation." She sighs in relief, happy at the fact he seemed to like the gift. Does he not get invited to a lot of things? She thinks as she was still a bit confused about his question before. "Will you be in it?" He asks her.
"O-oh! N-no!" She quickly say. "I couldn't bear being in it...I'm just the team manager," she corrects.
"...Oh, you're the team manager," he says in disappointment. "Pity. I quite like your voice when you sing at night." The comment makes her blush. She thought that no one was awake or near when she sneaks out to sing herself to sleep at least. "But Scheonheit and Asim will be in it?" He asks, making her look at him, nodding at his question. "Heh. That should be quite the spectacle," he chuckles. "I'll look forward to the festival. Have a good night, Angel," he says as he disappears in a flash, leaving her alone as she looks at the spot in front of her.
"I think I just made his day," she says as she heads inside, feeling the cold air around her. She looked down, seeing that she ran out with no shoes, but a thought came to her. Why didn't I feel cold when I was around him?
"It's time to set the plan into action," a figure says as he places a bottle in Vil's room. He quietly looks to Vil, seeing that he was peacefully asleep. "I'm sure you'll willing to do whatever it takes to be the best, so I'm going to give you a little 'push'." He says as he looks at him with a smirk. "All you need to do is use it when your ready; just one thing, make sure you cause as much distress as possible. The more distress, the more corruption will occur. Heh heh heh."
A/N: Hi everyone. I wrote this chapter on 6/2, and during the time I was writing this chapter, I received news that one of my cousins was killed in my hometown. I understand that the chapter might feel a little "off" but do know that with the news of this along with what happened months ago with my other cousins, I'm kinda overwhelmed with the events surrounding my hometown. Most of my close family members live in my hometown and it's just...a lot to process. Though when the time the chapter is posted, the shock will wear off, but I want you to know that I'm still going to be writing chapters after finishing this chapter, just going to be...thinking a lot if that makes sense. Also, I wanted to say that the next chapters will be a little off, as I'm just trying to get back on track. Thanks so much for understanding 🤍(6/5/24)
