HERE YOU WERE, in a desolated park that was overgrowing with plants and rusting to dust. to think that kids used to run around here, highlighting their lives without the knowledge of time that ticked as seconds passed. the world would never stop for those who couldn't catch up, it certainly was never fair.

you watched with a vacant stare as the birds hopped around through the grass, chasing one another, love in their beady little eyes. it fascinates you, life itself seemed so simple yet complicated. still, you think about your previous life.

despite the year almost ending, you still haven't managed to recover your extensive memories. in the end, you did gain a few pieces, allowing you to understand yourself just a smidge... and that was okay. it was better than nothing. it was better than waking up with wings, feeling scared, confused as to what you were, where you were, who you were.

life was complicated but ultimately the negative in this world gives life to the positive. it was a ying and yang cycle, vice versa to say so.

your eyes then flickered to your arms, burned and blackened that faded into your original s/c. the skin however was still smooth but the looks didn't match the texture.

what happened when you received these? was it some sort of punishment on your behalf?

you weren't sure and frankly you assumed that you'd never even know. it was best to continue on without further questioning any longer, burrowing those thoughts in the back of your head.

footsteps could be heard in your proximity, the aura was familiar and soon enough you felt the bench that you sat on creak from the extra weight. letting a heavy sigh escape, your head tilted back to look at the ever lasting blue in the sky.

"kate didn't deserve it." you stated with a noticeable tug of your lips, recalling the angry looks that the proxies had given you.

receiving an airy chuckle, you finally turned your head to the man besides you in his human form. he was dapper to say the least, neat with his clothing and sharp with style.

"she attacked first." lucien hummed out, staring ahead with a small smile on his lips. "she had it coming."

"it wasn't her decision." pursing your lips, you bit your tongue before you could accidentally spill what your mind was thinking about the purple demon. sometimes it was better to hold back, and sometimes it was hard to hide the truth because lucien caught on almost instantly after he heard a quiet yet sharp inhale from you.

"spit it out."

you shifted in your seat, straining every muscle to not just roll your eyes in annoyance at his demand. without further comment, you gripped your hands into a fist, muttering the next words quite clearly, "you're exactly like zalgo."

a snort came from lucien before he exploded into a fit of chuckles, "zalgo as in the loser of the underworld? me?? him???" he wiped an imaginary tear, you only noticed his teeth stayed permanently jagged once you got a glance at his smiling features. "you think so poorly of me, i'm offended."
