Amelia entered the room to conduct the neuro checks, Ben's heart sank. He knew these routine assessments were essential, but they also served as a stark reminder of Miranda's precarious condition.

With a heavy sigh, Ben watched as Amelia approached Miranda's bedside, her expression serious and focused. He couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness wash over him as he waited anxiously for the results of the examination.

Amelia worked methodically, carefully assessing Miranda's responsiveness to various stimuli.

As the examination progressed, Ben's anxiety mounted with each passing moment. He held his breath, silently praying for any sign of improvement, for some indication that Miranda's condition was improving.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Amelia stepped back from the bed, her expression unreadable. Ben's heart pounded in his chest as he waited for her assessment."Well?" he asked, his voice strained with emotion.

Amelia's gaze softened as she turned to face him, her eyes filled with empathy. "There's been no change," she said gently, her tone somber. "But we'll keep monitoring her closely."

Ben nodded, his heart heavy with disappointment. He had hoped for some small sign of improvement, but it seemed that Miranda's condition remained unchanged."Thank you, Amelia," he said quietly, his voice tinged with sadness. "Thank you for everything you're doing for her."

Amelia offered him a reassuring smile, her hand resting gently on his shoulder. "We're all here for her," she said softly. "And we won't give up until she wakes up."

As Amelia left the room, Ben turned his attention back to Miranda, his heart heavy with worry but filled with determination. He would stay by her side, no matter what, holding onto hope and refusing to give up on the woman he loved.

As Richard entered the room, Ben looked up, his expression weary but determined. He knew that Richard's presence meant they needed to have a difficult conversation, one that he had been dreading but knew was inevitable."Ben," Richard began, his voice gentle but firm, "I need to talk to you about Miranda's condition."Ben nodded, his heart heavy with apprehension. He knew what Richard was going to say, but hearing it spoken aloud made it all too real.

Richard took a deep breath, his gaze steady as he continued. "We need to be prepared for the possibility that Miranda may not wake up," he said quietly. "And if that happens, we'll have to make some difficult decisions."

Ben's stomach churned at the thought, his chest tightening with emotion. He couldn't bear the idea of losing Miranda, but he knew he had to be strong for her sake.

"I know," Ben replied softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Miranda wouldn't want to be kept alive by machines."

Richard nodded, his expression sympathetic. "I'm glad you understand," he said quietly. "It's never an easy decision to make, but we have to do what's best for Miranda."

Ben squeezed his eyes shut, his heart breaking at the thought of having to say goodbye to the woman he loved. But he knew that Miranda wouldn't want to suffer, and he had to honor her wishes.

"I'll do whatever it takes to make sure she's not in pain," Ben said, his voice filled with determination. "Even if it means letting her go."

Richard placed a comforting hand on Ben's shoulder, his eyes filled with understanding. "We'll cross that bridge when we come to it," he said gently. "But for now, let's focus on giving Miranda the best care possible."

Another week passed with no change in Miranda's condition, the weight of uncertainty hung heavily over everyone involved. Ben spent every moment he could by Miranda's bedside, his heart heavy with worry and his mind consumed by thoughts of what might lie ahead.
