37 - Deja Vu

The police came to take my statement and asked for the letter, but it was in my office. They would send an officer by the next day to get it for evidence. They downloaded the footage from my doorcam and the hallway cameras to review. They asked if there had been any other incidents and I could not think of anything else that had happened.

Just as they were about to leave I remembered the man that tried to kidnap Jinki. I told them about it but they didn't seem to think the incidents were related. Besides, the asshole was still in jail.

By the time they left, I felt sick to my stomach. Yes, I was scared, but I was more angry. Getting angrier by the minute. I stood up and walked to the window, I opened the drapes and looked out over the city.

"She's out there somewhere. How did she know where I live? How did she get Jinki's toy? Maybe we dropped it. I can't figure out any other way." I turned quickly to face them. "I want more cameras! I want them here and at the office. This bitch is bold and sneaky." I stopped and held out my hands, "how do I know it is a woman?" I asked that question to myself.

"I think it is a safe assumption, but it could be a man I suppose," Kihyun answered.

"Most sasaengs are female when it comes to male groups," Wonho added.

"Do you think this is the same fan who left Minhyuk's 'gift'?" I used air quotes.

"I guess it is possible, but there hasn't been anything happening for a while," Minhyuk shrugged, but his tone sounded like he wasn't convinced. "And she was only focused on me when she was active. I don't know why she would be messing with the cat."

"That doesn't mean anything. The bitch is crazy so she could have been locked up and just got out," they snickered but I wasn't joking. "I know you guys are used to this, but I am not. Try to remember how you felt the first time." I wrapped my arms around myself and shivered.

"The police will do everything they can and we will make sure you are safe." Kihyun held my arms and leaned down to look into my eyes. "We will get cameras installed at the company right away. We have them at every entrance and in the storage area, but we will get them in the hallways and offices. I'll get on that first thing in the morning."

"We will talk to building management here tomorrow too," Hyungwon assured me.

"But for now, you need to rest." Jooheon put his arm around me and sat me down. Minhyuk appeared with a cup of chamomile tea. I was so distracted that I hadn't noticed he stepped away.

"Minhyuk and I are right here if you need us. Jooheon and Hyungwon are just a floor away. You call if you need anything at all." Changkyun sat on the other side of me and pulled me against his chest. He kissed the top of my head and rubbed my arm. I caught the look of jealousy on Minhyuk's face, but it gave me no pleasure this time.

They made sure I was settled in and locked in. They also changed my door code to Jinki's birthday as a precaution. 0514 was way too easy to guess. I didn't sleep once I went to bed. Every little sound made me jump. Jinki knew something wasn't right and stayed on top of me all night.

I probably should have asked someone to stay with me, but who? I didn't want to cause any more issues between Min and Kyun, and it would have been one of them. At around 2:00 my phone dinged.

Minhyuk: You are still awake, aren't you

Me: Yes I can't sleep

Minhyuk: Would you like me to stay with you?

Me: ...Minhyuk: On the sofa

Me: Yes

Minhyuk: On my way

I was already typing yes before he suggested the sofa, I was unsure of how to say it. In the end it didn't matter. A couple of minutes later he let himself in since he knew the code. He came to check on me and sat on the edge of the bed beside me. Jinki moved and I turned to him. He stroked my hair and stood to go to the sofa. I grabbed his arm.
