42 - Ride Or Die

I was in the hospital for just over a week. Every time I woke up Minhyuk was there. He took care of me. He helped me eat since one arm was out of commission. He gave me sponge baths, which would have been fun under different circumstances. And helped me start walking around my room a little. I cried the first time because it hurt so bad, but it started getting easier.

I asked the doctor to start pulling back on my pain meds. I didn't like how they made me feel, except for the lack of pain part of course. But I needed to wean myself off of them.

Uncle Larry came by every day and spent several hours with me, even though I slept most of that time. He tried to convince Minhyuk to take a break and go home to rest, but he refused to leave me. Min had everything he needed in my fancy room and the members brought him clean clothes.

Lucy came to join the party. Luckily there was room for everyone to hang out in my room. The guys had called her when they called Uncle Larry. She looked a mess. Dark circles, drawn expression, worried eyes... she looked very much like Minhyuk. She stayed for a couple of days and then I sent her home. She needed to be with her boys. I was in good hands.

The members all came together to see me one afternoon. It was a bit much to have all of them there at once so they started coming in shifts, one or two at a time. Changkyun managed to smuggle Jinki in and she cried when she saw me. She talked so much like she was filling me in on everything since I had left her. She didn't want to leave me, but the hospital would not allow her to stay, even in my VIP "suite".

I walked a little after a couple of days. I needed help and I could not go very far, but I was getting stronger each day. I was even wearing pajamas instead of the hospital gown. Kihyun and Jooheon had gone shopping and bought me several pairs. They also got me a nice robe and slippers.

InHae, Naeun, and JiHo came and spent a couple of hours with me. ChulMoo came by, several staff members came to check on me, and my team brought me some gifts. Even Iseul from the coffee shop came by. Most of the people from the company came by at one time or another. Visiting someone in the hospital is expected in Korean culture.

When my team was there, they filled me in on our K-OS project. They had wrapped up the final details, based on what they thought I would want. The meetings I missed were rescheduled and Oh MiSun handled them. I was very proud of them and told them so.

The police detectives came back while Changkyun, Jooheon, and Kihyun were visiting. I relayed the events from meeting MiKyung in the commissary to the moment I collapsed in the convenience store.

I heard their shocked gasps and muffled whispers as they listened. I tried to keep my focus on the detectives, but when I faltered and looked over, I saw their expressions and almost lost my composure.

Jooheon's face was filled with shock and horror, while Kihyun and Changkyun looked angry. Minhyuk's bottom lip was quivering as he fought back tears. Seeing how it was affecting them made me want to stop, but I had to tell the whole story.

Uncle Larry had gone to the hospital coffee shop, thankfully. I didn't want him to hear the full version. I would give him the highlights later.

I had not told anyone the full story yet. I felt raw and exposed after the detectives left. Reliving it in such detail was horrifying. I lived it and still couldn't believe I got through it.

If she had wanted to just straight up kill me, she could have simply poisoned my coffee that night. But instead, she wanted to play with me, like Jinki and her toy mouse. The woman is a psychopath.

Every sound made me jump, every time a doctor or nurse came in I was terrified it was her in disguise. I was only sleeping because of the pain meds and even then I had nightmares every night. That's probably why Min wasn't sleeping. He was up watching over me.
