chapter twenty one

hold tight

Exiting out of the elevator shaft at the apartment complex, Eddie and Yasmin carried out takeout onto the floor. The pair teamed up to support Buck since the recent events that have transpired. From the disappearance of Sasha and Monet to Monet being found at a firehouse had lessened the stress. But without any knowledge of Sasha's whereabouts, remaining hostage under Matthew left them helpless. 

Yasmin confided in Eddie about her young cousin Veronica. The young woman is still shaken up from the kidnapping. There was some sort of guilt that she felt despite not being at fault. Her and Monet's life was on the line, it was out of her control. 

"Her parents came over after what happened." She mentioned. "Right now, she's staying with Albert."

Eddie nodded along before they halted at the door. "How are you doing?" He narrowed at the brunette besides him. 

Yasmin lowered her hand down from knocking her fist upon the door. "I don't know. Sasha's my best friend...my sister. I want her to be found and home with us." She refrained to start getting teary eyed about her best friend. These last couple of days have been emotionally draining for her. "Thanks for tagging along with me despite needing to recover."

"Our friend needs us during this time. He's been there for me."

Eddie didn't hesitate when Yasmin asked him to accompany her at Buck and Sasha's apartment. Nothing like relying on crutches to walk with ease wouldn't stop him to be there for his best friend. 

An exhausted Buck unveiled behind the door after bursting it open. Buck's appearance checked out that he's been experiencing sleepless nights. From the bags under his eyes and unshaven face. He rubbed his hand over his face, blinking at the pair in front of him. 

"Hey guys, what brings you by?" He pondered in a hoarse tone. 

"We brought you breakfast and company." Eddie announced, gesturing the bags and tray of coffee cups. 

"Uh, okay. Come in, I'm going to grab Monet." He said upon hearing the toddler's cries in his bedroom.

Yasmin and Eddie entered the apartment and proceeded to the kitchen to set up. The apartment appeared in a state since the police and the forensic team were here on the day of the kidnapping. And it seemed Buck couldn't really bother to clean up from the distraction of the last few days. 

"Look who decided to visit us this morning, princess." Buck emerged into the kitchen with his pouting daughter on his hip. He turned his body to show her godparents as her head rested on his shoulder. 

Eddie and Yasmin greeted the toddler though she sniffled and buried her face into Buck's shoulder. 

Buck couldn't let go of Monet when reuniting at the Firehouse. Monet sensed that from her father as she wouldn't either. He watched her sleep soundly in bed next to him. Only wishing Sasha was here with them.
