The buzz of the stadium was electric, the anticipation for the North London Derby at an all-time high. You could feel it in the air, the way the fans chanted, their voices a unified roar of support and excitement. The stands were filling up, a sea of red and white, with splashes of white dotting the crowd. As you made your way through the Arsenal section, you could see the determination in the eyes of every supporter, each one ready for the battle that lay ahead.
You navigate your way to the players' tunnel, a perk of being Grace Clinton's older sister. Grace, a rising star in the football world, was set to play a crucial role in today's match. But your excitement wasn't just for your sister; it was for Alessia Russo, your girlfriend, and Arsenal's star forward. The relationship had been kept under wraps, partly due to the press and partly to avoid any awkwardness with Grace, who was fiercely protective of you.
The tunnel was bustling with activity. Players warmed up, stretching and chatting, their faces a mix of nerves and excitement. You spotted Grace, already in her kit, her face set in a determined expression. She was talking to some teammates, her presence exuding confidence.
As you looked around, you caught sight of Alessia, her blonde hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. She was focused, her eyes scanning the field, mentally preparing for the game. You made your way over to her, weaving through the throngs of people. When she saw you, her face lit up with a smile that made your heart skip a beat.
"Hey," you greeted her softly, trying to keep your voice low amidst the noise.
"Hey yourself," she replied, her smile turning into a playful smirk. "Here to wish me luck?"
"Always," you said, your voice filled with genuine affection. "You're going to do great, Les."
She took a step closer, her eyes flicking around to make sure no one was paying attention. The crowd was preoccupied, the noise level high enough to cover any conversation. Alessia reached out and took your hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Her touch was warm, a small comfort in the midst of the pre-game chaos.
"I'm glad you're here," she whispered, her eyes meeting yours. There was a moment of silence, a bubble of calm in the storm of activity. Then, in a gesture of affection, she leaned in and pressed her lips to yours in a quick, sweet kiss. It was a brief moment, but it spoke volumes.
Just as you pulled away, a voice broke through the bubble. "Y/N?!"
You turned to see Grace standing a few feet away, her eyes wide with shock. She had obviously seen the kiss, her expression a mix of surprise and confusion. For a moment, no one moved. The world seemed to stand still.
"Grace," you started, your mind racing to find the right words. "I...we..."
Grace blinked, then a slow smile spread across her face. "I knew something was up with you two. You're terrible at hiding things."
Alessia looked between you and Grace, her face a mix of relief and amusement. "We didn't want to make things awkward for you, Grace."
Grace rolled her eyes, stepping closer. "Awkward? Please, I'm just mad you didn't tell me sooner." She looked at you, her eyes softening. "You could've trusted me, you know."
"I know," you said, feeling a wave of relief. "I just didn't want to complicate things."
Grace sighed, then pulled you into a quick hug. "Well, it's out now. Just promise me one thing."
"Anything," you replied, feeling a weight lift off your shoulders.
"Take care of her," Grace said, nodding towards Alessia. "She's important to me too."
Alessia stepped forward, her hand finding yours again. "I promise," she said, her voice firm.
Grace smiled, the tension easing out of the moment. "Alright then, let's go win this game."
