You had seen Alessia under pressure before, in games where every pass, every touch mattered. But this was different. This was personal.
"Are you sure?" Her voice wavered as she asked the question for what felt like the tenth time that night. You were curled up together on the couch, the tension in her body seeping into yours.
"Lessi," you began gently, turning towards her, "I've already told you, it's okay."
She sighed, her eyes filled with uncertainty as they met yours. "I just... I don't want to mess this up."
You reached out, taking her hand in yours, squeezing it softly. "You won't. We're a team, remember? We'll get through this together."
Alessia nodded, but the tightness in her expression didn't ease. You could tell she was still in her head, thoughts swirling with self-doubt and fear. She had been on edge all week, ever since the news of her transfer had come out. A new city, a new team, and the fear of the unknown had weighed heavily on her.
You shifted closer, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "You're stronger than you think, Lessi. And you don't have to do this alone."
Her breath hitched slightly, and for a moment, you thought she might cry. But instead, she leaned into you, resting her head on your shoulder. "I'm scared," she admitted quietly, her voice trembling.
Your heart ached for her, knowing how much this move was taking out of her. "It's okay to be scared," you whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her temple. "But I believe in you, and I know you can do this."
There was a long silence, the only sound was the gentle hum of the television in the background. You could feel the tension slowly leaving her body, her breathing evening out as she found comfort in your embrace.
"I just don't want to let anyone down," Alessia murmured after a while, her voice small.
"You could never let anyone down, not when you put your heart into everything you do," you reassured her, rubbing soothing circles on her back. "And I'll be here, every step of the way."
Finally, she lifted her head to look at you, her blue eyes shimmering with emotion. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice a little stronger now, more certain.
You smiled, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Always, Lessi. I'm not going anywhere."
A soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips, and she leaned in, capturing your lips in a tender kiss. It was a kiss full of promise, of love, and of the strength you would give each other in the days to come.
When she pulled back, there was a new determination in her eyes, the fear still there but no longer overwhelming. "I'll make you proud," she said softly, her voice steady.
"You already do," you replied, feeling your heart swell with love for the incredible woman in your arms.
As you settled back into the couch, Alessia snuggled closer to you, and for the first time in days, you could feel her begin to relax. The weight of the world was still on her shoulders, but now she knew she didn't have to carry it alone.
