Unspoken Confession

Everyone around you seemed to know it. Your friends teased you about it, your teammates dropped hints, and even the coach made light-hearted comments about it. Alessia Russo and you—inseparable on and off the pitch—apparently had everyone convinced you were meant to be together. Everyone except for you and Alessia, of course.

It was a warm afternoon as the team gathered for practice. You had just finished tying your laces when you heard a familiar laugh behind you. Turning, you saw Alessia chatting with Leah, her face lighting up with that infectious smile that made your heart race.

"Ready to show them what we're made of?" Alessia called out as she jogged over to you.

You grinned, trying to ignore the butterflies in your stomach. "Always. Let's show them how it's done."

Practice was intense, but the real challenge was trying to keep your mind off Alessia. Every pass, every glance, every shared joke felt charged with an unspoken connection. You could sense her eyes on you, even when you weren't looking.

After practice, the team decided to hang out at a nearby café. You and Alessia found yourselves sitting next to each other, as usual. The conversation flowed easily, laughter filling the air. But every time your hands accidentally brushed or your eyes met, you felt a jolt that made your heart skip a beat.

"So, when are you two finally going to admit it?" Leah's voice broke through your thoughts, causing you both to look up in surprise.

"Admit what?" Alessia asked, a puzzled look on her face.

"That you like each other, obviously," Leah said, rolling her eyes. "I mean, it's so obvious to everyone else."

You felt your cheeks heat up, and you glanced at Alessia, whose face mirrored your own surprise and embarrassment.

"We're just friends," you both said in unison, which only made Leah laugh harder.

"Sure, keep telling yourselves that," she said with a smirk before turning back to her conversation.

The walk home was unusually quiet. The weight of Leah's words hung between you, making the silence almost unbearable. You could feel the tension building, the air thick with unspoken feelings.

Finally, as you reached your front door, you turned to Alessia, taking a deep breath. "Do you think they're right?" you asked softly.

Alessia looked at you, her eyes searching your face. "I don't know," she admitted. "But... maybe we should find out."

Before you could respond, Alessia took a step closer, her hand reaching for yours. The touch was gentle, almost hesitant, but it sent a wave of warmth through you.

"I've liked you for a long time," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was just too scared to say anything."

Your heart swelled with a mix of relief and joy. "I've liked you too," you admitted, your voice trembling slightly.

A smile spread across Alessia's face, and she leaned in, her forehead resting against yours. "So, what now?" she asked, her breath warm against your skin.

"Now," you said, feeling a newfound courage, "we stop being oblivious."

With that, you closed the distance between you, your lips meeting in a kiss that felt both exhilarating and right. The unspoken truth was finally out, and as you stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, you knew that this was just the beginning of something beautiful.
